Why aren't IBA events on BoxRec?

I was just banned on the BoxRec forum for asking this question.

BoxRec stopped listing WBA belts. Tomorrow there's an IBA event, which BoxRec also has a beef with for some unknown reason. IBA events don't typically end up on BoxRec. But tomorrow's event has a few WBA belts.

For some reason BoxRec is listing the WBA title fights on their site, but leaving off the non-title fights. Apparently a WBA title fight is too important to leave off BoxRec. Yet also at the same time refusing to mention that they're title fights because they hate the WBA.




If I get banned for asking here too, then where am I supposed to ask? I assume I was banned for a link to their competitor or something?

They list the fights, they just don't recognize the WBA title anymore.


IBA isn't recognized by anyone, but they should still list the fights. Just not as title fights.

Why to both? And also I realize the IBA events are different. But BoxRec has Team Combat League records in a separate category, surely they could do the same? What exactly is the beef here?

There's four recognized world titles, Boxrec now only recognizes 3 of them. I don't remember the full reason, but I believe it had to do with WBA and Turki.

IBA has never been recognized as a world title. I'm upset they recognize the IBO tbh

I'm not concerned about them listing IBA titles. BoxRec doesn't list all types of lesser titles. Skipping the WBA is truly bizarre and I've never seen an article explaining what the two are even upset about.

They don't list IBA events AT ALL. But apparently when a WBA title is on the line they list it. It feels like a contradiction. I'm wondering what the rules are.

Paul's right. That's what it was. Like I said before, I knew it was something with the WBA/Turki but I couldn't remember the details.

I think in some way boxers kinda agree that it's an exhibition. There's a couple of US prospects who got wrecked by Russians in IBA events like Alexis Espino and Nikita Ababyi.

In the other hand, Julio La Cruz fought in South Africa for a WBA Gold belt and it wasn't recorded but Vergil Ortiz has his WBA Gold belt fights in his record. So maybe they do have beef with the IBA and the WBA.
