I have always been interested in the premise of different regions having different styles of fighting. I have leaned towards the idea that maybe one major driving force in a city or region pushes the narrative (ie Kronk in Detroit). So many good fighters came out of there that we assume its style to be the definitive style of the region, and maybe because of its success other nearby trainers adopted its methods.

As an aside, as a huge Finito fan I appreciate his shoutout in the greatest Mexican fighter discussion.

Right.

I think people copy what works, so if you're in Detroit, you're probably going to copy what's going on at Kronk if Kronk is turning out Tommy Hearns, Milt McCrory, Michael Moorer, etc. . ., so all the guys in an area are essentially jocking the successful guy's style.
