Promoters promote, fighters fight. From what I've heard in interviews Beterbiev is a sweetheart outside the ring.

Guy is a ****ing Teddy bear. Posts all of his workouts on IG too, in Russian and English and encourages his fans to converse over fitness.

Don’t think he was asking him to be “witty and amusing” but I’m with Hearn on this. The fighters do have a bit of an obligation to at least answer a few questions. He wasn’t being asked for his opinion on Descartes.
Within reason, in my opinion, fighters have a duty to help build the fight as part of their job, as well as fighting. And yet, I can’t stand Tyson Fury and his old windbag Dad - so I guess the upside of less talk would be not having those to in your grid before his bouts.

Nothing Beterbiev says is going to move the ppv needle much if at all. Folks who know the fighters don't need to be sold. Those who don't know them won't be compelled to buy the fight based on verbal pre-fight banter

gay rights, trans rights, anti-systemic racism. people who are against "woke" are anti gay, anti trans, racist, they just know its off putting to actually say the things they believe in, at least in the affirmative, so they have reversed it so they are against something but we know its just a code word, same as "states rights"

boxing media is outdated

ufc doesnt have its fighters do countless 1on1 interviews with different youtube channels where theyre asked the same thing.

just do 1 press conference where the media can ask questions. and maybe the fighters will give more in that 1 presser.

and beterbiev not giving super long generic answers is what makes him unique
