Comments Thread For: Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach is 'a hard pill to swallow'

Roach got beat up by old and washed herring. Even fighting a top 30 guy at 135 is better than Roach.

Why would anyone care who this guy fights? He's making tens of millions of dollars fighting nobodies.

According to this bogus writer, obviously a fanboy, Davis made $25 million in the Frank Martin fight. And Frank himself made $3.25 million. See how these clowns massively exaggerate figures?

Just years ago uncle Al paying his fighters $1 million was a huge deal. How in Neptune purses became so significantly huge in this day and age of fans streaming fights for free? Size of the fights are not even that any bigger compared to fights in the past where boxing is still relatively popular? Maidana vs Broner is hands-down bigger, yet did Broner made at least $5 million?

How the *** PBC able to pay Davis $25 million fighting an unknown Martin? $25 million for such a small fight.

This site has a different take on Tank/Martin purses:

"According to Sporty Salaries, $2 million is guaranteed for Gervonta Davis in the bout with Frank Martin. Frank Martin, the opponent, might get up to $500k, which would be the biggest payday of his career.

On fight day, if the bout between Frank Martin and Gervonta Davis surpasses the 800k pay-per-view sales mark, Gervonta Davis will potentially earn a maximum of $10 million. In comparison, Frank Martin may earn a maximum of $1.5 million."

As long as Tank's fans keep buying tickets and ppvs, he will keep doing it. Easy money for no risk and little effort. He clearly does not care what boxing experts are saying of what boxing fans on forums like these are saying. If I was making $10M per fight by cherry picking easy opponents, I must say, I would probably do it too.

I agree 100% with Paulie. How is this a P.P.V fight? Whoever actually buys this fight is a sucker.

Algieri trying to sell the possibility of an upset and Pauli trying to justify this is ridiculous. I wish a public figure would just come out and call it a sht fight because it is a sht fight. Roach is clearly not the best available opponent by a stretch. Davis is fighting Roach and Zepeda is fighting Farmer.....this is not acceptable, period.

Tank's whole career is a hard pill to swallow. People like him because he makes money, not because he has beaten anybody good.

Lamont doesn't bring nothing to the table. He is a fighter coming up in weight that has no power.
