Xander Zayas may be closer to fulfilling his world title dream, but the junior middleweight believes there's more to be done before he achieves that goal.

Very good fighter. Top Rank moves guys like him slowly. 154 is a loaded division. See what happened when they tried to move Adames too quickly.
Funny you should bring up Adames' name, because he lost to Teixteira in his 18th fight, and Zayas just beat Teixeira in his 19th fight.
There was a 5 year gap in between the time they happened to fight Teixeira, but it is still found it kind of ironic.
That you mentioned the fighter who beat Adames, but just so happened to lose to Zayas when he fought him recently.
All that said Zayas is a better all around fighter than Adames is, and Adames is a current middleweight champion.
Zayas is going to be growing into a middleweight probably about some time in late 2025, and I Zayas can beat Adames for that title he holds.
Xander Zayas looks as big as a middleweight, or super middleweight in this articles photo.
He'll be fighting at 160 pounds sometime in late 2025, or early in the first quarter of 2026.
I like Xander and think that he has solid fundamentals. He needs about 10 more fights to be ready for a world title. He should be moved along carefully. I think he is past the stage of fighting tomato cans.
Never am impressed with Zayas. He is obviously athletic and has some boxing skills, but he looks middling against bad comp. He wins but never looks that great, where I think, yeah this dude is going to be scary. He has Jared Anderson vibes to me, feels like the first time he fights a good prime fighter he will be exposed.
Seen him fight many times now and he is a good fighter with a bunch of hype from his promoter, not a great fighter putting on great performances that show he is worthy of the hype.
