Comments Thread For: Raul Marquez keeps punching the clock in every way he can post-Showtime

Versatility has always served Raul Marquez well. A skilled southpaw technician in the ring who boxed his way to the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Marquez could also turn into a pressure fighter when the situation called for it and was no stranger to a bloody brawl (even if the blood was invariably almost all his own).

Its good to hear about his life after boxing. He gave me one of my best laughs when he stopped the count and told the ref "I got another job."

El Diamante is a Diamond behind the mic. I really enjoy his delivery, insight, humor, and he has a great voice.

Marquez has been a consistently solid color commentator for a long time. Nothing flashy with his delivery or assessments but never detracts from the viewing experience. I'd rather have El Diamante handling the commentary over alot of other former fighters currently handling those duties right now.

I remember Raul's fighting career which was very similar to his broadcasting style: solid and skilled without flash.
