Comments Thread For: Late notice hasn't stopped Carl Greaves embracing 'spiteful' Jaron Ennis

Carl Greaves hadn't seen David Avanesyan, 30-4-1 (18 KOs), since the former WBA welterweight champion recorded a routine win in Birmingham last December but, in June, the Armenian flew into England to finalise preparations for his fight with the IBF welterweight champion, Jaron Ennis, 31-0 (28 KOs).

I'm thinking if Bud can get a dialled-in 33 year old version of Avanesyan out of there in 6 then Boots can do it sooner with a 35 year old late replacement version of D.A

I expect the same I'd say if it's not over in 3 he'll wish it was. I expect Boots to perform in front of his home crowd.

I guess the question is does Ennis knock out Avenyesan in less than six rounds or not.

If he does, we can't say he's better than Crawford, because styles make fights. That guy Chukadzian, if I'm spelling it correctly, was tough and went the distance with 'Boots'.

With a guy as fast handed as Ennis, the opponent would have to time him to catch him.

Getting caught is one thing, getting laid out fast is another.
How many times were Floyd or Calzaghe or Ward caught?

Everyone has been caught in their career. Calzaghe and Ward both got dropped hard more than once.

Liondw was suggesting the only way to beat Boots was if he got caught and I threw in three undefeated guys that ALL got caught but did not lose. So Boots can get caught but it does not mean he gets stopped.

Oh, gotcha. I still think Ward lost the first Kov fight due to that KD, but the point is moot at this point.

I agree about the Ward-Kov fight. That was a typical homecooked decision that we’ve seen many many many times when foreigners come to these United Shores. Felix Sturm vs Oscar, Sergio Martinez vs P Williams, Sergio Martinez vs Cintron, Lennox vs Holyfield, etc
