IBF is always the first to strip a unified champ.

It was refreshing to hear Algieri call something "bull-****" on the ESPN+ broadcast. I like him as an analyst and commentator.

        Really ??
I thought he sounded like a yes man at the beginning of the fight and then eased in but still favouring the in house fighter

The Saudis don't have the authority to tell the IBF or any of the Sanctioning bodies who to award their belt to, as those are privately held companies and are not based in Saudi Arabia. So awarding an "Undisputed" title isn't possible if one of the Sanctioning bodies that media bestows credibility to disputes it. Just not doable.

However; if they recognized the real linial champion with a title belt that can only be won and lost IN THE RING, preserving the most important thing about Boxing - it's long history; that would be a GREAT thing!

How can he say this with a straight face: “Joshua has also looked phenomenal lately.” Are you serious? Algeri considers wins against Ngannou, Wallin, Helenius, and Franklin, looking phenomenal. Algeri is on the AJ/ Hearn hype wagon. AJ has been fighting in rehab mode after losing to Ruiz and Usyk twice. AJ is as overrated as they come. If Dubois is able to step to his right and have some head movement, he should KO AJ who has a very suspect chin.

By the time Algeri fought Ruslan Provodnikov, Ruslan was finished after fighting Bradley. Known fighters like Benn, Kahn, Pacquiao, and Spence beat him easily.

While I despise the sanctioning bodies, I must give the IBF credit for enforcing their rules. Both Fury and Usyk knew that a rematch clause would vacate the title, so what’s wrong with giving other fighters an opportunity. Hergovic had to wait 2 years to finally get his chance to fight for the IBF title, when the same IBF dragged its feet and let Usyk do as he pleased. I would not be surprised if Hearn and Warren threatened to sue the IBF if they didn’t vacate the title.

The problem with this article is that Algeri is talking out both sides of his mouth. Saying AJ looked phenomenal against sub-par competition is ridiculous.
I've noticed he like to hype up average guys and trinket holders. it's because he was one.

Second, Benn fought Algieri seven years after Pacquiao handed him his first loss. He was washed up, it doesn't reflect on how good he was or wasn't in his prime.

Third, Algieri won ISKA and WKA world pro kickboxing championships before he even started his boxing career. Then he won a world boxing title and you want to call him average just because he lost to freaking Pacquiao, Khan, and Spence?

You want to criticize the man's takes, be my guest, but how a forum poster can attack the in-ring credentials of a guy who won pro world titles in two different combat sports is beyond me.
in our world he a badass. in the boxing realm he was a b- tier fighter. he has done alot more than I in life for sure. but as a knowledgeable boxing fan who has been in boxing gyms since I was very young and respect all the boxers. there are still levels. and he was average. and provo was also, and just a brawler. most ppl can't fight at all. I've seen many ppl sign wavers to come into ring to settle a work beef etc. and we always laughed hysterically at them. so anyone on TV isn't a bum. Just recognize levels

They can however stipulate they will not pay for sanctioning fees to contest any belts and require fighters to drop any titles to accept Saudi prizemoney.

Jai Opetaia showed those IBF clowns what he thought of their trash belt and they still came back for the grift on his last fight.

Sorry, I wasn’t aware that kickboxing titles counted. My bad. Second, when you take out Benn, PAC, Kahn, and Spence, his opponents were below average. Winning a world title against Ruslan when he was already a shot fighter is not a big deal. Ruslan beat a once very talented Castillo when he had about 80 pro fights and had nothing left. Castillo retired after their fight.

Algeri was nothing to write home about and lost to every notable fighter he faced. Getting a victory over a shot Ruslan for a world title was not a big deal IMO. We can agree to disagree.
