The first PPV event I went to was Hagler v Mugabi at the old original Boston Garden in 1986.
The crowd was pumped and the atmosphere electric even though we were all looking up at the big screen and not the fights live in person.
Hagler is just an All Time Great. Not gonna argue it, just saying it for the fact it is.
The card also featured Hit Man Hearns vs James "Black Gold" Shuler. Hearns destroyed Shuler setting up the huge expectations for the amazing Hagler-Hearns war.
We all know what happened next and I don't hear anyone complaining, either.
Damn, that was good stuff.
Marvelous Hagler was the real deal at MW back then. That vicious Ko over Htiman Hearns will forever be remembered as one of the greatest victories of all times. Out cold!
Any and every honor that a fighter can get is proper for Hagler to have. He was a true great in the ring and out of it. It's a shame that he died so young.
