They did a decent job with the persona. Americans are pretty easily fooled and bought into it in their desperation for a top heavyweight.

But he was never that. Not in the ring nor out of it.
Granted on the OTT persona in promoting fights, but what about his delusional antics after Fury II – the Breland smear campaign, egg weights, heavy suits, etc. That's not a persona, that's an actual day-to-day weirdo.

      Perhaps he's not that verbose.
its just a look into his mindset and that he didnt think fury was legit or any kind of champ due to his long layoff and recent form. in fact he said something akin to "fury you are lucky im fighting you because you were fat, rusty, and on drugs when i chose you" and those are reasons he didnt fight joshua because joshua was none of those things. obviously wilders attempted cherry pick backfired and derailed his career but he clearly thought it was a cherry pick.

Interestingly the same characters seem hate most if not all black american fighters ... just coincidence like.
You sure you aren't just seeing "hate", victim mentality is a real thing and it's pervasive and profitable.

Training without actual fights is not that great. Wilder needed two quick (in 6-7 months timeframe) comeback fights to get his confidence and timing back and get rid of the ring rust. Post Fury III, he was semi-retired and not really motivated to fight except for a cashout AJ fight that never happened. Wilder doesnt look motivated to have a full-fledged second reign from the look of things.

So, it will be hard for him to get his confidence, footwook, and timing right to KO Zhang in that ring who has been quite active recently.

                Oh, boy! Lemme see here.....

As a boxing guy for half a century and a published historian, I've had a lot of practice shutting down conversations with knowledge lightweights regarding the topic of Prizefighting. But here's a parting shot:

How is fighting for the heavyweight title "Cherry picking"?

                I know, I know...
Mauricio Sulaimán, Gilberto Mendoza, Daryl Peoples and Francisco Varcárcel are the ones you entrust with re-writing history by selecting who holds one of the "oldest, richest and more international title in sports".

Where would these disreputable, unethical, and unscrupulous entrepreneurs be, without easily convinced people like those who respect their self-adorned authority?

Sure, Wilder responded to Fury's customary smack talk like that, but he was very aware that Fury, regardless of having just two comeback fights under his belt (like Ali had leading into his own title settlement bout with Frazier in 71'), had never lost the one title in the ring.

Joshua, just 6 months after the historic Wilder-Fury draw, was seen flopping around the ring floor against replacement opponent Andy Ruiz and quitting while standing; which disqualified him, most assuredly, as being the "more difficult opponent" for Wilder to unify against.

                But we all get it.
You don't embrace any notion that Wilder, an American or a person of African-American decent is any good.

To that, I allow that to each their own.

In a few hours, you'll be rid of Wilder, I suspect.
Ironically, that will be due to Wilder choosing the best opponents available through which to mount his final charge.

I am a boxing guy. As such, I cannot share in disrespect for any successful pugilist.

                But you can.
