Comments Thread For: Invoking Rematch Clause A Strong Legacy Play By Fury

With Tyson Fury's promoter Frank Warren reporting Tuesday that the two-time heavyweight champion will exercise his rematch clause for a bout likely to occur Oct.12 in Saudi Arabia, Fury has the opportunity to make some edits on a legacy that now has the scar of his first defeat.

What many people still seem not to realize is Fury's abuse of his body. That, and only that is the reason behind his defeat. It's dedicated athlete vs former addict, the latter adding and/or losing weight from year to year. At one point, the body's engine has to fail.

Fury has sc****d by in a couple fights, he was on the verge of getting KOd by Wilder and now Usyk. The ref saved him from a KO by Usyk. Fury has size advantage but is no Superman best of all time etc. Super-heavyweight division needed--from 230 lbs up!

He is only taking for the money if he was smart beat Joshua as a warm up and make Usyk fight Horvic for the IBF title.

Loud mouth and cheat Fury has no legacy to fight for anymore. He's been disgraced in his last two fights. He got knocked down by a novice and rag-dolled by a guy he called a middleweight.

Not to talk about his disgraceful statement after he has lost to Usyk. All he's been doing for years was damaging the image of the sport inside and outside the ring. And his excuse was worse than Wilder’s. Usyk won the fight because of the war in Ukraine, he said. If I were Usyk I would tell him to kiss my Ukrainian arse for the rematch.

Stop spreading this BS about the need for a super heavyweight division the 90s for example would've been a garbage division with this stupíd idea implemented.

And so would many other eras because you'd be leaving guys like Lennox Lewis Ruddock,Mercer, Golota, Botha, McCall, Bruno, Rahman and others out of the division even Tyson outgrew your hypothetical heavyweight division...

I am going to go against the grain and say that Fury wins the rematch. That one mistake was the difference in the fight and could have went his way depending on how the 9th was scored if the knockdown never happened.

I agree with your assessment of Fury, but don't believe Super-heavyweight division is necessary. Some of the top heavyweights in boxing history have proved this to be true.

Fury has to change up his style if wants to defeat Usyk. That fighting from a distance and off the back foot business is only going to get him knocked out.

Let's see, his career highlights: An watchable fight against Klitschko, fight against flawed Wilder who also lost as soon as he stepped up in competition, average Dillian Whyte, average Chisora, gift win against novice Ngannou and now the one legit boxer in Usyk he's fought, he lost. Yeah Algeri he is one the best heavyweight ever. Give me whatever you are smoking.
