You both make some great points but isn't his stance in this case seems a question of intentional ignorance. For example when he was 1st asked by his manager for a statement, instead of claiming not to know anything about the conflict could he easily not have done some quick internet searches to have found most of that information and allow him to make a more informed decision as opposed to claiming ignorance on the issue. I dont think he has a leg to stand on because if he wants to actually stick to his "I'm a boxer not a politician " argument, he cannot then go and run for office as a politician. It would have been different if he stuck to his stance and never made a statement either way and then just refuse to answer any questions about it when asked, that would be "staying out of it", not running for office. Claiming to know nothing about politics or governing a country and winning a political race are things that only happen in America.

That's social media for you. People put so much stock in what random clowns say on social media nowadays that it actually affects their livelihood. The world has an unhealthy obsession and addiction with social media that needs to stop or things will just get worse and worse.

You could even go a far as to argue it's not even morally defensible to fence sit in moralized/politicized issues.

You do have to take a stance if you want to remain respected and trusted, it's actually been studied that "staying out of it" backfires in contentious moral and political disagreements and people really do care what others stand on contentious moral and political issues.
This is too convoluted now. Go back to the simplicity of your original statement.

Be a man. Take a stand. And stick with it.

Trying to please everyone makes a man look weak (because that whole notion is weak-minded) and he ends up pleasing nobody. So instead of trying to please people, just... (refer to original statement.)

Not really convoluted, Briedis isn't just a boxer he's trying his hand at being a politician at least since 2022.

It's important he understands the nuances of taking a position one way or the other and how it affects his standing with the public and most importantly why...

Also pleasing the wider demographic is better for business as I said and for a reliable voting bloc...

Now the original statement still applies in general about him taking a stance but it's slightly more nuanced than that.

            Good points.

This is the decision of one won't-take-no-for-an-answer man using his position to attack other people and take the land they occupy. Don't ask about supporting Russia, ask about supporting *****.

That said, Briedis responded terribly. What kind of idiot feigns ignorance, then runs for office?

After he gets knocked out this weekend, maybe he can run for head librarian. Probably lose that too.

You get the best view of both sides sitting on the fence and you can articulate that view without jumping off the fence to land on one side of the other.

Sure, he probably needed to take a stance but that wasn't the time or the place
