Bernard Hopkins nails it on magnitude of Manny Pacquiao

A marginal former world champion named Kendall Holt says the public has been “fooled” by Manny Pacquiao.
This is, of course, an ant attacking an elephant with **** on its mind. It’s a pugilistic pipsqueak shooting spitballs at a battleship.
Holt’s rancid rap is the tired, old song…Oscar de la Hoya was dried out from making weight, that Ricky Hatton’s dumb defense made him easy pickings for Da Pacman.
I don’t know about you but I instead of Holt’s cry for attention I prefer to look back at some more intelligent comments made by a Hall Of Famer as summer was turning into fall.
This boxing giant’s name is Bernard Hopkins and, let’s face it, Holt couldn’t carry his gym bag in terms of talent or stature.
You can compare Holt to a Hopkins, sure, but it would have to be underachieving nephew, Demetrius, not to middleweight marvel BHop. When Holt gets a clue about Pacquiao, it will be his first.
I didn’t see the story when first published (August 24) but I think what Hopkins said about Megamanny bears repetition as we continue the run up to the giant bout of Nov. 14 against Miguel I’m No Angel Cotto.
Hopkins shows a true awareness of Manny as a cultural icon, as the Pinoy Idol.
“People want to see him, his culture. I think he comes across with that kind of star power,” says Hopkins. “Some fighters have it. Some fighters just have the star. Then you got star power. Then you have the fighter who just captivates the imagination of the people. This guy’s a little bit more marketable than any other fighter that’s under – including myself – that Golden Boy has, I’m not saying that nobody’s marketable. But he brings…he’s just an exciting fighter. Everybody’s paying attention to him. I know HBO is. And everybody loves his style and his fight game.”
Further, BHop told the scribe that he sees Manny as the torchbearer of his generation in boxing.
“He’s the guy to watch. In this new generation of the next new fighters they’re transitioning into now, taking that torch and taking it into the next years to come. And he’s definitely on the top as one of the superstars in boxing right now.”
A ring giant’s on the mark words on Pacquiao are duly recorded. Btw, in what's supposed to be batting practice before a 2010 "Golden Oldie" rematch against Roy Jones.
As for Holt, his mindless wind goes in one ear and out another.
When it comes to the Magnitude of Manny, Hopkins nailed it.
