It looked like Ryan brings his jab halfway back and then fires the hook. It gets there fast.

Writer of this article fails to mention that Haney is an arrogant twat and that he seemingly thinks he really is Floyd. Clear from the beginning that he thought Garcia was a walk in the park and was planning on playing around. Ryan caught him and Haney recovered but was never the same. He tried to gain momentum and had a few moments but at that point he was embarrassed and fighting on emotion and he got caught again, and again, and again.

Haney is a good boxer with very minor power. He has to fight a 100% perfect fight mentally against big hitters or he will get steamrolled. Boring as hell.

Garcia always looking for the big shot and the KO, always fun to watch. Great speed and big power. With some defensive work and maturity, he can be a great.

I like how the writers all grit their teeth as they have to write good things about Garcia. LOL. "Garcia may yet sink himself".

I congratulate Ryan Garcia on his victory. He had a very good game plan by the way and executed it superbly. However, there was something off about Devin though and I place all the blame on his father Bill. They knew that all Ryan had was that left hook and yet Devin still had trouble avoiding it all night long.

Instead of training his son for perhaps the biggest fight of his young career; Bill is on his smart phone daily trolling not only fans, but current and former boxers, promoters or to anyone who would allow him a platform to speak all over social media. It was the main reason why Haney lost.

He was both neglected and ill-prepared by his dad and it showed. I just hope that Bill has learned his lesson and is ready to move onto training his son again. He has to show more of a commitment and dedication into training his son or someone like a Floyd Mayweather, Jr will.

"Garcia, who knew he hadn’t prepared as hard as Haney"

          Absurd sentence..

However, don't you still have to blame his dad, trainer and coach for that? It was his job to prepare his son for that fight against Ryan Garcia?

Could this guy be more of a haney shill? It was only a close fight because of a corrupt ref. There were FIVE knock downs. Without the ref Haney would not have made it out of the 7th.

I feel like sometimes in fights where it appears to be close, the fighter with less damage on their face should be considered the winner. Isn't that what boxing is about at its core? Inflicting damage and hurt on your opponent? If one guys face is swollen like a pumpkin and the other doesn't even look like he went 12rds, why on earth would you consider the guy who doesn't have a mark on his face the loser of the fight?

Actually one left hook from Garcia started everything, and along with some right hands (look at the left side of Haney's jaw), kept Haney's ass on the canvas.
Credit to Haney for getting up each, and every time, but even more credit for Garcia knocking him down, over, and over again.
I'm not a Garcia fan, but it was exciting to see this fight to watch, Ryan came through with flying colors like they used to say back in the day.

Yeah, this is what happens when a welterweight fights a super lightweight
