if it's an injury, the fighter, his corner and the doctor can stop the fight

the ref can only stop a fight on his own via DQ, TKO, or if he thinks a fighter isn't defending himself

Can we all at least agree that Amazon delivered tonight?

I usually don’t pay attention to PPV numbers but am curious how it did.

The boxer is trained to go until they can't anymore, so Tim wasn't going to complain. The corner probably thought they'd be able to control the bleeding......so it would've been up to the doctor to make the tough decision.

The doctor never felt that Tim couldn't see to the extent that he couldn't defend himself, which I agree with. That's why the fight wasn't stopped. Tim was defending himself throughout all 12 rds. I would ask people to watch the fight again and pay attention to Tim parrying and slipping Fundoras jab. Some got through but it wasn't enough to suggest Tim couldn't see them

If Tim couldn't see, the fight would've looked way different and Tim probably would've been stopped

You are right. Only the doctor can stop a fight. However, it is the responsibility of the referee to notify both the fighter's corner and the doctor to determine whether the injury was caused by a foul or not.

Had Team Tszyu notified the doctor that their fighter can no longer see due to the foul. Then the doctor wouldn't have had any other alternative but to stop the fight.

Then the fight would have been ruled a no contest after three rounds had been completed or have gone to the scorecards

There's also the business layer of it: Tszyu may be currently associated with PBC, but Fundora is truly the house fighter. This is also the main event of a PPV too, and nobody wants it to go to a technical draw either. So things will just have to resolve themselves in the ring.

Let this be a learning lesson for Tszyu that a general training camp is not always enough. Some opponents like Fundora have unique attributes that you need to be fully prepared for. Tszyu believed he was just be able to figure it out in there.

It's the referee's discretion to determine whether or not a cut was caused by a punch or from an accidental clash of heads or a headbutt.

I am certain that,Harvey Dock made Team Tszyu aware of the situation that the cut was not caused by a punch but by an accidental elbow..
But it wasn't ruled a foul. It was an accidental clash.

Tszyu's team should have absolutely told the referee that he couldn't see. It would be a no contest and they'd go again in 6 months.

I can only assume that they still thought he'd win.

Credit to Tszyu. He's a proper warrior - I hope the fight increases the number of people who want to watch him. Then it hasn't negatively impacted his career.

Credit to Fundora as well, by the way. I'm taking nothing away from him.

Holy sh.it Fundora is the most dangerous guy in the sport. He destroyed Tim by un elbow. That was the real Muai Thai elbow punch.
