    Gomez at least 4 times.

He could have had that rematch if he wanted, but Sanchez was too much of a beast that Wilfredo slinked back down to 122.

    The first loss matters.

It showed Gomez he couldn't handle the man at 126.

    Bout Summary

Gomez down in the first. Going into the eighth, Wilfredo's face is completely swollen. Both his eyes are almost sealed shut. Gomez is hurt bad with a devestating right hand, and then is pounded on with devestating left hooks and a couple of right hands. He goes down. Padilla counts him, and when Gomez stands up on his feet and indicates that he is ready to fight, Padilla looks at his facial features, and signals the end by waving his arms.

Don't jinx a rising star in Lopez like that. With todays fickle fans, they're ready to bounce on a fighter after his first defeat.

I remember that fight like it was yesterday unfortunately for me I lost a months paycheck while doing my time in the US ARMY. Yeah Sanchez, did put a serious beating on Gomez. As far as slinking back as you described was just the thing to do. 122 was where most of his punishment was administered. There was no way he was going to seek an immediate rematch after the beating he took. I've always been curious to know what the outcome would have been at 122? No one will ever question Gomez's K.O. ratio now that was awesome.

The Molitor fight was after Vazquez-Marquez III. You know? The war that all, but put them out of commission. Damn duke, you're questioning Marquez and Vazquez heart to fight when they've fought pretty much everyone there is to fight from 118 to 122.

        What a dumbass.

No doubt about that. and I didn't mean the "slink" comment in a disrespectful way towards Wilfredo, only as a jab to the poster seeing as he enjoys taking his shots at Mexican fighters. Wilfredo was a monster at 122 and in many fans opinions, if not the majority, was the best that division has ever seen.

All time great fantasy matchup for bantamweight supremacy.
          Morales vs Gomez = WAR!

lol none like Gamboa or Juanma?

They've beaten guys better than those two who have yet to prove **** against top flight competition.

When was the last time they fought guys in the vein and caliber of Vazquez and Marquez?

              I'm not doubting their talent,

its just not smart to jump the gun and automatically assume they can go through the battle with either fighter unscathed or possibly beaten.

Its one thing to look good against subpar competition when you're on the rise, but its something else entirely once the quality is upped a few notches.

Two of boxings top prospects? Your dumb !!! Not only that one is a gold medalist !! Vasquez been fighting Mexcans, when he gonna fight someone from another nationilty that can give him a good fight, we seen Vasquez in wars but not against any other type of fighter, that could beat him, Gamboa and Juanma in their 1st pro fight is a better win than those bums on Vasquez record, expect Marquez, thats about it !!

May I suggest you throw the k.o. punch when others take shots at the Mexican Warriors the jab would only hold them off temporarily. They must be made aware the next Sanchez is lurking out there and when underestimated he'll put you to sleep. The true monster was Sanchez. ATG just does'nt describe!!!

There noobies to the elite level.

Gamboa just started to fight former contenders (Seeger and Rojas) in his last couple fights and Lopez was fighting guys like Oquendo before de Leon.

Marquez has fought Vazquez (3x), Johnson (2x), Austin, Mabuza, etc. Vazquez has fought Marquez (3x), Larios (3x), Gonzalez, Hernandez, etc. They're proven. If they don't fight each other, they'll fight Gamboa, Lopez, and Caballero back to back to back.

They haven't been fighting anyone and have legit reasons to take a break, so to say they're avoiding is ridiculous. They should forget about fighting each other though, I want to see all the right fights get made.
