Not everyone in boxing is gonna be an elite talent with elite skills but Ryder was a really good solid fringe world level guy who was always game in fights and he was unlucky not to be world champion when he fought smith in Liverpool 4 years ago. But still had a good career probably made alot of money to be comfortable in retirement from his last two fights against canelo/Munguia and apparently he's going to be working with fighters as a trainer now aswell. So good luck to him

One such example of this is Chisora getting the shot against Vitali after getting jobbed against Helenius...
And lets not pretend Canelo hasn't done enough in his career to basically pick and choose who he wants.
He's 64 fights deep and 18 years into his career most fighters won't even make it that far, particularly the number of fights given how inactive fighters are, they MAY make the 18 year mark but even that's unlikely...

Good on him. Gave it everything, handled himself with class, and got out at the right time. An absolute example in how to comport yourself.A.B Counterhooks likes this.

The Canelo fight ruined him. He looked like a million dollars against the unbeaten Zach Parker, he was at his peak of confidence...but then he took a savage beating from the SMW king, despite fighting his heart out
Canelo turned him into damaged goods overnight and softened him for the limited Munguia to beat on. He realizes it now, he's not the same anymore. Retiring is the best decission

Well, I have to disagree with you, fighting the level of talent he has faced, he should have 100 fights. Please tell us what Canelo has done that's so wonderful? How many elite fighters he has faced and beat convincingly?
And why am I going to waste my time trying to break down Canelos CV when it's patently obvious you don't care and will disregard him regardless.
And BTW I don't even care for Canelo, i'm just pointing out it's a consistent theme throughout "faces of boxing", it's not reserved for Canelo.

I don't remember Sanchez, JCC, Duran, Hearns, Hagler, Napoles, SRL, and countless others waiting it out elite fighters.

"one of the only guys" is the imperative part of what I said, I guess reading is hard...Last edited by garfios; 02-07-2024, 10:13 AM.
