Comments Thread For: Kazuki Anaguchi Undergoes Emergency Craniotomy, Remains Unconscious Following Defeat to Seiya Tsutsumi

Kazuki Anaguchi remains unconscious following emergency brain surgery. Grave concern has been expressed for the 23-year-old southpaw who has yet to regain consciousness from injuries sustained in a December 26 unanimous decision defeat to countryman Seiya Tsutsumi. The ESPN+/Lemino aired bout saw Anaguchi go all-in during a Fight of the Year candidate between unbeaten Japanese bantamweights, though also featured the frightening shot of his legs twitching as medical attention was paid to a gruesome cut over his left eye.

Wishing dude & his family well. That was a great fight, but an unfortunate injury.

That's a tough call for the referee & teams.
That night it looked like there was no quit in either of these guys.

But Anaguchi's corner should have known when is enough.

          Hope he comes through....

There was definitely signs he was a lil more fooked up after the 3rd & 4th KD's imo, but hell man I'm sure when you are in the middle of a battle like that winning is on your mind more than something tragic happening is. And I mean the fight was up for grabs til that last rd. It was intense.

That said a lot of ppl always act like the uneven fights are the ones ppl get severely hurt in, but its more often these types of fights where both guys are close in skill level & are pushing each other beyond limits they've been before.

In the moment, sometimes the mind can defy anything physical.

He's the guy they were carrying out with his arms across their shoulders, the guy who could barely stand after the fight ended and was stumbling back to the corner. I knew that looked bad and was a little worried for him. God bless.

It looked really bad in real time and I was shocked they didn't put him on a stretcher immediately. Obviously wishing for a full and speedy recovery.
