Watched it again the other day, the first time since watching it in a pub in Waterloo. Stoppage still soft as **** and I gave groves more rounds than I did at the time. He was absolutely beating the **** out of froch.

Was the first time I'd met my (now) wife's cousins as we'd only been dating a short while. A wedding, two kids and a nice to another country later but it still doesn't seem like ten years ago

The hatred Froch got after that stoppage was insane, they were tearing in to everything about him, I remember threads on him having a crappy resume, being overrated, that groves had given him brain damage, that his chin was overrated etc.

Then a few months later he wins the rematch clean and he's the best thing since sliced bread again and he would have legit ko'd groves if the first fight went on 5 seconds longer.

The whole thing really drove home how reactionary boxing fans can be and how you really are only as good as your last fight.
I’m a Froch fan and think he was always great to watch but I do think his resume is a little overrated tbh.

People go way OTT and act like he fought bums which is crazy, but I do think it gets glorified a little too much in the UK.

I’d say he beat a lot of good fighters but no great fighters. The one great fighter he fought in Ward he was comfortably beaten by too.

You are right though, the fans turned on him instantly, he got cheered in and booed out.

For me as a UK fan I'm quite honest about our boxers, they don't often travel, they usually are somewhat vulnerable at the top level. It's quite rare we have a fighter as tough and willing to fight anyone like Froch was.

I think Froch's resume stands up against most other British greats, he was never ****** out or embarrassed in the ring, so I appreciate him a lot. Sure he wasn't A* level elite but he was a solid A which makes him one of our best in the last 20 years.

I don’t mind Lee tbh, met him a couple of times, at fights or after fight parties and stuff like that, always seemed alright, bit of drinker back in the day but he’s been sober for years now.
I haven't but I read the big write up Boxing News did on it earlier this year.

Lee may have given up alcohol, but he's simply replaced one unhealthy obsession with another by becoming a conspiracy meme. I'm not sure if he actually talks about it on stage but he was quoted mentioning "muh fluoride pituitary gland".

I think you're confusing "casuals" with "emotional losers on forums". The latter are overrepresented because they're most inclined to post frequently and thus be most visible. They don't represent the general public sentiment at all.

Yeah definitely one of our best, Froch’s career is one my favourite careers I’ve followed.

Nah the casuals hated Froch man. The whole arena turned on him, people were throwing their beer at him and everything as he left the ring.
