The strip club analogy is a funny yet accurate way to describe the situation. The promoters are the pimps whoring out their fighters for that sweet Saudi money. I'd prefer AJ/Zhang, but Hearn will try to talk him into an Ngannou fight. It's ultimately up to AJ to not allow it. The problem is that the $$$ is much too big to walk away from.
He should keep doing them lol. AJ still seems a lil off to me. He's such an in his own head guy I think he's already sorta checked out of his boxing career, but he knows there are still things he can do there & there is money to be made there so he's going through the motions. He's trying, but I don't think his heart is in it like it was at one point.
I don't think he should fight Ngannou (or Zhang) at all unless a fight with Fury is up for grabs to the winner. The money is nice I'm sure, but not unlike with Fury fighting him ANYTHING Ngannou has success with in that fight, & he will have success vs AJ, is an L for AJ & idk if AJ wants that kinda critique or can handle it very well these days. There is no W in that fight except the $$$ & there is a lot of risk & there are a lot of moral W to be had for Ngannou & moral L's for AJ even if he does win which I don't think is a lock.
We won't know how much heart/hunger AJ truly has left unless he fights contenders who pose a genuine threat. He no longer has the titles, therefore no responsibility to fight consecutive contenders. However, he's still one of the biggest names in the sport...and the health of the division depends on him. If he needs another tune-up, then let it be Charr. After that, he needs to get back to fighting top competition.

I'd argue we know this from the Usyk fights where he showed a lack of drive to win in the moments the balance to win the fight could have been in play. But his performance vs these past few guys also show a lack of drive to me too, but I can see how you could say he was phoning it in vs the lesser guys since they posed lil risk.
He's def one of the biggest names & thats why he should just milk easy fights til a good fight that means something presents itself. He makes money vs anyone so he's just navigating risk right now & he should take on as lil risk as possible cuz he looks very ripe to be beaten. He should be selling his next L at the highest price is kinda what I'm suggesting ig lol.
As a fan I'd like to see Zhang or Ngannou next obv, but from AJ's POV I'd argue he shouldn't risk the big fight with Fury that is likely in play late next year/early 2025 or at a minimum making those riskier fights vs Zhang, Ngannou or hell even Jared Anderson or whoever else might be more in the line for a belt fight in a yr after another easy fight or two where those fights will be bigger & might mean more.
Randomly from Zhang's POV I'd like to see him do a big fight in china as a proof of concept chinese fans will turn up & is able to do a big fight to make Zhang vs these name guys in china more feasible & interesting to dive into for those name guys.
