Felix Verdejo will spend the rest of his life in prison. The disgraced former boxer was punished to the full extent of the law during a sentencing hearing Friday in a Puerto Rico federal court. Probably the strangest fall from grace for a highly touted prospect since “The President” got incarcerated.

The difference being that Verdejo was already declining, whereas Ibeabuchi was directed straight to the top when his troubles started.

Agreed. Verdejo was a bit of a hype job whereas Ibeabuchi could’ve actually been something.

Would Ike have had a shot at beating Lennox if they’d fought after his Holyfield bouts do you reckon? He seems like he’d have been considered the best of the rest at that point in time. Win over Byrd aged very well.

Valero’s got to be up there as well.

You are right, Valero is probably the biggest wasted potential of them all.

Was thinking of the fall from graces/wastes of talent , such as Tony Ayala, Ike , Valero and now Verdejo. But as was mentioned, those other guys still had the perception of being on the come up whereas we already knew Verdejo was done. Not due to lack of talent but seemingly a lack of dedication.

Brave enough to step into the ring but a coward when it comes to life in general. The Latin Kings or the Netas will have fun with this dude.
