Comments Thread For: Tszyu: Charlo That Fought Castano Wanted To Win; This Canelo Fight, He Never Wanted To Win

It was "weird" for Tim Tszyu to watch the submissive version of Jermell Charlo that fought Canelo Alvarez on Saturday night. Charlo's junior middleweight rival respects the irritable, tenacious Charlo that became boxing's first undisputed 154-pound champion of the four-belt era. The newly crowned WBO junior middleweight champion didn't get the sense,

Be real! If Tim fought Canelo he would be KOd. Charlo took the fight for the $$. The people hoping Charlo could KO Canelo were dreaming.

After the weigh in I thought Charlo looked a little shell shocked. You could see it in his eyes when he was interviewing after. I thought his answers were all over the place and had nothing to do with the questions he was asked. Oscar used to talk about some fighters freezing up when they get to these big events.

Now I understand what canelo keeps saying when he even told charlo and has told previous opponents, “from the outside looking in, it looks one way, but once you in the ring, it’s different”

          timmy would get washed too!

People criticize Charlo for his effort, I do think Charlo came to win, but then he got punched and realized that he was way over his head and didn't want to get knocked out.

Silly people trying to discredit canelo like it’s his fault, in a way, it is but it takes two to tango. Canelo came in to do his job and that he did, he is a victim of his own success to the point that beating a current undisputed champion in his prime with height and reach disadvantages ain’t sh.it. These people don’t know sh.it about boxing.

Well said. Even being ring side, just hearing and seeing the punches and the speed is an eye opener for fans.

Charlo was surprised and couldn't settle down enough to think on his feet so it looked really bad for him. Not a fan but, also not a fan of pointless beatdowns.

Yes, versus Crawford, I wouldn't be as nice/objective.

Crawford is the one calling for the fight canelo doesn’t seem interested and rightfully so, Crawford has no business in the same ring with a super middleweight let alone the undisputed champ in his prime. It’ll be canelo vs mell all over again and Crawford the type to go out on his shield so, it makes no sense for canelo, however, what is a man to do if/when they throw a bag at you and you know you have a high very high chance of being successful, and that’s in all professions. Most if not all would take the bag and go on about your business. It’s a very sneaky and smart move by team bud though just like it was for team mell, you go up and dare to be great if you get beat then you have an excuse and can still charge another bag by going back down. Mell now wants bud that’s a big fight, bud wants canelo, if bud loses, bud goes back down and still has either mell or Spence for another bag… they double dippin at this point it ain’t hard to see
