I could do without all of the trash talk, but I am glad to hear that Vanes is ready to step up.
The way I see it, Vanes is the best up and comer right now and Sergio is the best of the beltholders. I would give Vanes a very good chance to beat Spinks, Sergei or Santos at this point. Martinez is about as tough a fight as there is for him right now.
Being a fan of both guys I would have preferred to see them take out some of the other names at 154 first. Regardless, this is an awesome fight and I will be stoked if it comes through.

For all you Martinez nuthuggerz and those that hate on Vanes and his resume... here is some straight facts from Boxrec.com... everyone is all up Martinez's ass because he beat up an over the hill Alex Bunema and yes he did win against cintron but before then his resume isnt all that impressive and I dont know why everyone thinks this guy is GOD...
The best way to judge someones opposition from the outside is too look at the respective guys opponents' records and here it goes....

Sergio's opponents have WON 713 out 1060 decisions, for a winning percentage of 68% ( and if you take out Cintron's record which was a draw that number drops to 66%)

Now here is Vanes' opponent records.... you'll be surprised....
Vanes' opponents have WON 290 out of 417 decisions, for a winning percentage of 70%.

surprised???? in addition to the clear advantage of the winning percentage, most of Sergio's fights early on in his career were staged in Argentina and we all know how the judges in those countries judge fights...

so before any of you nuthuggers challenge Vanes' competition in his far, sit back and calculate your fighters numbers and as far as I am concerned Vanes has faced much tougher competition... just look at the numbers, its facts... im not making this **** up
