Why would I ever give Shane Mosley 40%? Shane fought Mayorga for 1.5 mil, and fought Margarito for 2 mil.

In his last fight, Antonio Margarito refused to split 50/50 with Shane. Please allow me to repeat that : ANTONIO FREAKIN' MARGARITO INSISTED ON A HIGHER PURSE SHARE THAN SHANE.

        Margarito-Mosley On Again
        Monday December 1, 2008
The on-again, off-again Antonio Margarito-Shane Mosley bout is on-again. It reportedly took some extra cash from HBO and some purse tweaking but the two will meet on January 24 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas with Margarito's WBA welterweight title on the line.
As the titleholder and, in his mind, the bigger gate attraction based on his win over Miguel Cotto, Margarito had initially rejected the Mosley fight because he was unhappy with his $2 million purse guarantee and 50-50 split of the pot. HBO apparently came up with enough additional cash to satisfy Margarito so the bout is back on.

The winner will likely advance to a summer rematch with Cotto.

Hopkins is either deluisonal or just purely hating!
he's hating because floyd's cash receipts were higher...always the dollars...

What do you think a reasonable purse split would be, 70/30?

It does not. Shane doesn't have a presence in the urban community. Shane doesn't attract AA's to his fights. Neither at the gate nor at the cable box. He draws much less interest than, say, Zab even.

              Just look at Shane's nums.

Please don't provide an exception such as "my friend is black and loves Shane Mosley". The exception only serves to prove the rule. I do welcome some data that disproves my assertion.

                fixed it for you.

my man trust me if i had data to back that sh** up, you would just offer one of your ivy league excuses...

so now nobody comes to see shane fight?...especially blacks....i guess because he split with the wife he lost his korean support too huh...?

ok now when you say shane mosley doesn't have a presence in the urban community, exactly what do you mean....because i live in newark, nj, and last i checked, none of these black fighters come to my community...only one i can think of who actually visited the community is roy jones...prudential center has been hosting adamek's fights, but thats a room full of whites outside of the boxing clubs...please provide this data i want to see this...

                    Quite frankly? AT LEAST.

Imagine if Shane fought a name Mexican fighter. How many PPV buys?
Oh, he did. He fought Margarito. And it was WCB.

                    My suggested purse proposal:

                    Floyd: ten mil guarantee
                    Shane: four mil guarantee

                    PPV revenue split:
                    Floyd: 80%
                    Shane: 20%

If the fight does really well, then SM can go home with an $ 8-10 mil payday. As opposed to the $2 mil he has been making the past few years.

I wouldn't punk Shane on the guarantee. But SM has to know that he isn't the one heating up the cable boxes. If he wants to turn that down, then good luck, Shane.

Also, Shane said on HBO that he is looking to prove he is the best. OK, fine. Then it isn't about money for you. Take one of the (if not THE) highest paydays, and prove you are the best. Go see how much you can make fighting Clottey.

Cotto can get 60/40 or 70/30 of the PPV revenue upside.

If Shane agrees to your terms, would he be allowed to take his 'vitamins'?
