Comments Thread For: Leigh Wood-Otabek Khlomatov: WBA Formally Orders Mandatory Title Fight

Leigh Wood officially has his marching orders. The two-time and recently recrowned WBA featherweight titlist from Nottingham, England has been instructed to next defend versus mandatory challenger Otabek Khlomatov. The ruling was confirmed Tuesday, just three days after Wood soundly outpointed Mexico City's Mauricio Lara in their May 27 rematch at AO Arena in Manchester.

Khlomatov Is solid fighter. He works the body and can go up top, throws nice combos but and this is a big but he does get hit. I’m not super high on Woods but I think he is definitely talented and can crack a bit. This would be a great matchup if Woods was a bit younger. I’m not sure Woods at this late stage of his career wants to go through another battle like the Lara sagas when you have a pot of money waiting for you with Warrington.
Personally I don’t like watching warrington fight he just uses he’s head way too much for me similar I guess to people dislike of Okolie and holding, just isn’t pure boxing.
UK fans would love the showdown so Fast Eddie set it up.
