People say that because it's universally accepted that he wasn't just past his prime - he was completely shot.
That's not just a retrospective opinion - Pac was a favorite to win the fight. Pacquiao had already beaten Barrera and got by Marquez - he was expected to walk through Morales.
Little guys burn out quicker than larger fighters - often times they're completely done at 26, meanwhile many heavyweights don't hit their prime until they're about 30. They also make far less money which often translates into them fighting more often - Morales fought 3 and even 4 times a year against top fighters for years. Pacquiao 1 was the 49th fight of his career.
The Pacquiao-Morales fight is so famous because everyone thought Morales was done, and he ended up turning back the clock albeit for one night.
That’s the ****** narrative of casuals. He wasn’t done at 29. He didn’t take heavy beating or losses lol. How was he done, lmaoo. Cotto could be done being plastered in his first loss that I’d believe. But you are not out of your prime at 29 with 2 losses and no heavy beatings, no drinking and chubbying and abusing drugs.
None of the bs you said is effin true, done at 26? Yeah maybe like 2% of the bums of the tomato cans and bums not the elite and discplined ones that are born to fight.
Ahh Fook, another kid who doesn’t know sheeit about boxing. Grow some hair on your balls before asking a ****** question.
So an elite atg level talent Erik Morales was done at 29yrs old with 2 losses and zero heavy beatings no drug abuse, no chubbying and no drinking problems okayyyyy.lol just because that’s the ****** narrative of casuals like you doesn’t make it true.
Actually they were both in their prime. 27yo manny, 29yo morales
we’ve seen pac get way better in the higher weight divisions when he was 29-33yrs old . That was his prime and peak. Not the single handed version morales fought.

The fact is that he was 27yo only two years younger than Morales, both in their prime, actually that was the beginning of the end for Morales prime. I didn't see him getting better with age.

that’s what i was trying to say as.. that was the end of erik morales prime, but he wasn’t past it that fight like people are trying to say… he won but he took some punishment as well.
i refer to prime or peak as the best version of yourself at your peak weight. If the 140 version of pacquiao easily KOs the 130 version then i can’t refer to his 130 version as his prime. 29-33 was the time he was dominating left and right and became a superstar of the sport.

That's your opinion, for you he wasn't in his prime when he got koed by Marquez at 34yo neither at 27 when he lost to Morales, even though before he was 27 he had a draw with Marquez (he put him down three times), koed Barrera and after his lost to Morales he knocked him out twice before his 29 birthday.

122 to 130 pacquiao was winning and losing.
135-147 was all dominant wins until he was 33 that was his prime and peak.
kind of like lebron in earlier days in the cavs was already very good, but he was something else in his peak prime form was in miami and 2nd stint with the cavs.
Canelo was already good too in his younger days at 154lbs but his real prime came at 160 and 168.
i guess we differ in definition of prime — for me it’s the absolute peak of your powers while yours you just meant “young” but not where their skills fully developed.

That's a very selective way of dividing ones prime, especially leaving his age 27 out of the equation. His last fight with Marquez he was killing him he had it ready to go, any othe fighter but JMM would have quit, he came in for the kill and got caught and let's not forget he wad five years older than Marquez. What is it that you are trying to say? That he lost because he wasn't in his prime? If a boxers with belts in three different weight class at 27yo is not in his prime yet, yes I guess weren't on the same page. He lost because he were fighting hall of fame boxers, and when you do that, unlike canelo, you will win and lose, opposition quality has a lot to do that, that's why ginger has cherrypicked his way to the top, old washed out fighters and a couple of gifts.

He was FAR PAST HIS PRIME. Not everyone ages the same. He was partying way too much. You could see it in his face and body. He didn’t train like he should. He was above his natural weight class. He had been in many wars.
Fernando Vargas, Pernel Whitaker, Broner & Kovalev had the same problems. NO DISCIPLINE.
