Comments Thread For: Gervonta Davis on Shakur Stevenson's Boxing Ability: "What You Gonna Do When You Get Hit?"

Shakur Stevenson looked down at the scales despondently. While he did his best to squeeze himself down to the 130-pound weight limit ahead of his showdown against Robson Conceicao, the former Olympic silver medalist waved the white flag. Although he was forced to give up both his WBC and WBO super featherweight titles, Stevenson (19-0, 9 KOs) brushed off his championship forfeiture and declared that he would compete going forward as a full-fledged lightweight.

He already got hit by Valdez and Conceição lots of times. Especially Valdez did good job on his body.

He looks durable. At least against naturally much smaller guys.

Crawbum's punches hurt him in sparring tho.

Damn Tank! That's a good question! Even Floyd got hit! Shakur has not faced any real fighters with power! Valdez had decent power, at 126, and Yoshino has 12 KOs in 16 fights. Maybe Shakur's defense will always keep him safe?

If Shakur faces Tank, that will be his only loss of his career. Shakur is an excellent boxer, but he's not beating Davis in that category by a wide margin. Stevenson likes to create enough distance to slip punches and counter, but he doesn't run, and his pride makes him want to exchange once he gets hit clean. Tank has never been hurt and isn't afraid to take a shot when closing the distance for a bomb. Eventually, he will get to Shakur, whether he hits him and baits Stevenson to exchange, or does his in and out movement, and jumps in with bombs. It will go about 9 rounds until naptime.

Shakur makes him quit on a stool.

Obviously you know nothing about boxing and Tank Davis fighters temperament. He gets meaner as the fight goes on and will go out on his shield. Quit isn't in his DNA

That's a good question and the main reason you two need to fight, will he be able to take it or can he avoid you all night and win a wide decision as some may suggest.

Yeah what happens when he get's hit? But you have to hit him first, and probably more than once for this particular opponent!
Now if it turns out that Stevenson has a less than sturdy chin, and I don't think that it's been tested by a power hitter like Tank.
Except for when he fought Jeremia Nakathila who was 21-1 (17 KO's), and stung Stevenson, who kept it moving afterward.
This is a good fight no matter how you see it play out, but if Tank hit's him clean, and hurt's him, he can finish him.
That said if Tank can't catch up to Shakur, and lower the boom on him, then homeboy is going to stick, and move, frustrating Tank all night long.
