Some thought Johnson won. Chad wants to settle the issue and leave Johnson in the past. [details]

You crazy man Dawson > Lacy not even close. The thing is I don't know about this snaggle toof, but the snaggle toof from a year ago would win IMO, experience and pace. Also slaphappy froma year ago would win as well IMO.

            Decisively?

Even in the rounds where Johnson stunned or hurt him, Chad would be winning 2 or 2 1/2 minutes of the rounds. Dawson clearly won 7 rounds with a solid case for 8.

The main reason why I thought Glen Johnson beat Chad Dawson the first time is because he met two of the three criterias when it comes to judging fights. He was effectively aggressive and he landed the more effective punches. I even think he outlanded Dawson overall because if you really pay attention, he was deflecting Dawson's punches off his gloves. Not all of them, but a good majority. And Dawson got hit with right hands like breakfast, lunch, supper, and dessert.

And as far as ring genaralship goes, I don't think either guy had a big advantage where that is concerned. I think that Dawson's only chance to win the rematch is to try to turn it into a borefest and avoid confrontation because Glen has a better chin than he does. I remember of where in the late rounds Dawson started running and the crowd was booing the action. Then he traded with Johnson and got the worst of it, because Glen showed to be the better inside fighter.

At the end of the fight Dawson's lips were swollen and his wife had the look on her face like Chad had just gotten out of a torture chamber. Chad knows he didn't win that fight and the rematch is happening because of people like me beating the drum on these threads and HBO laying their foot down when it comes to not letting fighters take the path of least resistance.

If you look at George Foreman's face after he fought Stewart, then you would have sworn that he lost. You cannot judge a fight by a swollen face. Dawson won more rounds decisively and he did it in Johnson's state. What was your score card?

You wouldn't say Chad was the ring general? His movement, defense, jab, and combos controlled that fight until Johnson would land a hard, clean punch (something he did in only 3 or 4 rounds out of 12).

Andreas Kotelnik has a better chin than Amir Khan, but that doesn't get you very far when there's superior skill involved.

I had it 115-112 for Johnson with the 10th round being a 10-8 round. I gave the first two rounds to Dawson. But the third round went to Johnson because he rocked Dawson pretty good at the end of that round and picked up where he left off in the fourth. Dawson and Johnson traded rounds in the 5th and 6th which tied it up halfway through. And that is when Dawson made adjustments in the 7th and 8th rounds and pulled ahead in the fight. But here was Dawson's problem. He gassed in the championship rounds and got caught with punch after punch even though he showed a lot of grit to hang in there. He came close to matching Johnson's work rate, but his fatigue is what caused his defense to become more leaky and he got the worst of it whenever they traded puches. It's subjective though and people see fights different ways. The rematch should put an end to all of these debates.
