I haven't seen Foster fight and I'm no fan of Vargas but in terms of boxing styles it's obvious that most fans prefer an engaging and exciting boxing style. The proof is in the "fights of the year", in all avenues that I have seen. They are always action packed fights.

Everybody watching boxing is a couch potato too? You generalize too much and put your preferences on a pedestal. Boxing is life-shortening; dudes hit other dudes in the head, a lot. Sometimes life-ending. You prefer "stay at range, touch and move". I prefer engagement. It's just preferences, and it's not wrong to like one or the other, nor is either preference better.

Fighting like Arturo Gatti for the entertainment of slouch potatoes is actually what's life-shortening. If a fighter can hit without being hit, that's a good thing. Willie Pep and Sweet Pea Whitaker were beautiful to watch.
