Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather. Why I view Manny as a VERY dangerous opponent.

I think Pacquiao's offense could really startle Mayweather early on; and he has a high output which is the key to beating Floyd.

However I don't think Pacquiao could handle Mayweather's offense and Mayweather would prevail after figuring Pacquiao out later on.

I see a decision in the end but I could see either man touching canvas at some point too

What happened on Saturday doesn't indicate what Mayweather would be able to do against an opponent like Manny Pacquiao. While Juan Manuel Marquez was indeed the smaller guy, Marquez's style was also tailor made for Floyd Mayweather. Very few have been able to counter punch against Mayweather, Zab Judah being one of them; dude is fast and a south paw. Marquez doesn't have that type of athletic ability. Marquez has been more about timing.

Pacquiao has the speed to match Mayweather; is a south paw, so the shoulder roll won't be as effective. Pacquiao has the foot speed/ foot work/ angles to make Mayweather VERY uncomfortable. Also a new found more developed right hook. Jesus Chavez/ JLC were able to land right hands over the top against Mayweather and they fight out of an orthodox stance, Marquez did as well but rarely. Much easier for a south paw to land right hooks against Mayweather, especially one as athletic as Pacquiao. Also, Manny Pacquiao's 5'6 height would be VERY beneficial, in that, like Jesus Chavez, who is short; Pacquiao will be able to land over the top with the right hook.

We have to look at Zab Judah's success against Mayweather. Zab Judah stopped throwing the jab because he was being countered with left hooks over the top.

So Mayweather managed to take away one of his weapons and proceeded to break him down to the body. I don't see Mayweather having that sort of success against Pacquiao, Pacquiao is a VERY explosive combination puncher . He will jab to the body though, which is MUCH less of a risk. I don't think Zab Judah wasn't conditioned enough to go the 12 rounds with Mayweather, I believe he was. It had more to do with Mayweather's precise/ constant body attack.

Some may disagree but to me, Pacquiao's hand speed is slightly slower then Judah's. But Pacquiao's foot speed compensates for that. I've already mentioned that Pacquiao is more consistent so, who has Mayweather faced that has the stamina/ activity that Manny Pacquiao brings? No one. Would Mayweather be able to attack the body (As he did against Judah) without getting hit upstairs against an explosive combination puncher in Pacquiao? I have a hard time seeing that. What Mayweather vs. Marquez proved is that, Marquez isn't no where nearly as good of a weight jumper as Pacquiao. A good debate is, comparing Pacquiao's power/ hand speed with Judah's.

Next I'll make a thread as to why Pacquiao is gonna beat Cotto.
      Very good post.

I pretty much agree with everything you had to say. I've always said that despite being an better box than Pacquiao, Floyd and Manny have elements to there game that will bother one another; mainly, Floyd's defensive style and counter punching, against Manny's lightning quick southpaw style.

However, I think that the reach in this fight is what will win it for Mayweather. While I don't know the exact numbers, I'm willing to bet Floyd has a good three or so inches on Manny. Due to this, Manny is going to have to come in much closer than Floyd, or extend himself, leaving himself open to counters.

But then again, this could all be thrown out the window if Cotto tears Manny apart.

Mayweather has a 5 inch arm reach advantage against Pacquiao, same advantage he enjoyed against Marquez.

That is what i said after the fight, now i know that can be mistaken for me going on one of my ****** hate rants but i honestly believe that. JMM just does not look the same fighter, whether its just the weight i dont know.

Im surprised JMM went upto LW successfully TBH, because it seems to me he does not have the athleticism to move up in weight successfully. I thought that (athleticism) amongst other things was a huge factor in why he lost so decisively to Mayweather, when all said and done he is not athletic enough to beat Mayweather and Mayweather is more skilled Boxer so he cant win a Boxing match, if he cant win a Boxing match he has no where to go.

Hey Dominicano Soy! do you think like me that a fight with Pac would be more competitive than a fight with Shane?

I really think Mosley is too predictable and old to even push Floyd?

Mayweather vs Shane? People would be demanding a fight that would look like a mismatch.

This reach advantage really the wingspan. Mayweather really only had about a couple of inches of functional reach advantage.

Pacquiao is used to fighting offensive minded fighters. That is why I don't view this fight as something to see. It's not the right fight for boxing. Maybe to casual fans, but Mosley isn't scared of Mayweather. I don't know if Pacquiao and Cotto are, but I don't think Arum will put either of his two cash cows in with Floyd.

Good analysis DS and I agree on the Judah comparison. The question I have is what happens when Floyd adjusts to Pac. Will Pac switch up? I think Pac will win the first 2 or 3 rounds. Also some round in the middle of the fight. However one Floyd adjusts he is food. If he can pull out a plan b c or even D, this fight will be very interesting.
