How else is he supposed to get the Canelo fight? The only thing that he can do at this point is fight Caleb Plant and beat him up.

Young up and coming guys want the challenge and want to take on the pound for pound best guy out there. No matter what sport we are in, the up coming contenders always want the person at the top. Canelo's ego is too fragile to take another loss to Benavidez. Canelo has a lot of yes men around him on his payroll pumping his head with lies about how he is the best fighter in the game right now. He gets paid well for every fight he takes and he will not take the Benavidez fight also because if he loses then Canelo's earning power will decrease. Canelo likes to fight guys who he can beat, plain and simple. If he thought he wouldn't have been able to beat Bivol, then he wouldn't have fought him either.
An overstatement of the obvious. What fighter signs up for a fight they KNOW they cannot win? Only journeymen and no-hopers looking to pay the rent. Canelo has the best resume in the sport, which means, win or lose, nobody in the game has fought stiffer competition than him.

Yeah, that's a great start. Benavidez-Plant suddenly became a lot more interesting and meaningful. Canelo will be ready in early summer '23.

Not much upward movement if he started at Cruiser.

His current route, he could compete in 4 divisions by the end. but since he isn't approaching boxing well, he might never turn heavy. He'll hand around 168 for too long like GGG did 160.
Maybe, but you can see his dimensions, overall mass and weight are huge, even by LHW standards.

Can’t imagine he’ll be able to make 168 beyond 2023, so unsurprised he’s after the Canelo cash ASAP.

So, Canelo vs legit cruiserweight sounds better? It's good. Keep Canelo's standards that level.

Not surprisingly I don't believe the excuse of his hand being injured in the GGG trilogy fight. Does an injured hand also effect stamina? Exactly... Just be a man and own up to your own shortcomings instead of blaming everything and everybody else.

                  2. Benavidez was a champion at 168 and canelo never expressed any interest in fighting him. He did however petition for his belt just 3 days after he was stripped. Coincidence? Sure. There is no guarantee that if he kept his belt that Canelo would’ve fought him because he didn’t express interest in the belt until benavidez didn’t have it. 3. It’s funny how you mention Yidilgrim was a mandatory. The first mandatory canelo ever faced in his career because before he gave up his title instead of facing mandatories on 3 different occasions.
Like I said, he’s a hypocrite and clearly doesn’t want to fight Benavidez.
Look, you are a nice boy and you post some good thoughts here and there, but Canelo-hate has addled your brain. Anyone who is inclined to do so can invent and support with "facts" ANY narrative at all about Canelo or any other fighter they dislike. Canelo cannot fight every fighter at the same time. You can always find fault with the pattern and timing of his fights and claim he ducked this or that fighter. For you, this man is the puppetmaster who is artfully manipulating everybody in the entire sport.

Everyone, including Canelo, knows Benavidez is a helluva tough opponent for anyone.

I don't think anybody is arguing against that opinion. That's not evidence that Canelo ducked Benavidez though. Canelo spent a full year unifying the SMW division, which means he fought belt holders. Benavidez couldn't hold onto his belts, so he took himself out of the lineup. Canelo's other fights, against Bivol and GGG, were legacy fights which had far more upside for Canelo and his promoters and broadcasters than a no-belt defense against unknown David Benavidez. Benavidez will get his shot, and to his advantage, it will probably come when Canelo is in clear decline. Canelo would have killed him in 2021.
