Yeah Boxxer’s roster really lacks depth, the undercards tend to just be filled with prospects, tune ups etc.

Looks like they’re trying to build Azim vs Cheema, makes sense in fairness, would be a big fight in the Asian community.
Based off recent performances, Azim looks levels above - Cheema particularly unimpressive (especially defensively) Saturday - but yh the fight has its' advantages as you say. Wouldn't mind Cheema-Charlton rematch over 8; think it'd be a different story outside of the three-round format. Winner to fight Azim.
Doubt Boxxer do that though with how thin their stable is.

I saw Kongo-Marku was mentioned earlier. Is there anything rumoured at all as to what sort of date Marku will (if he's getting it) fight in Albania?

I have no idea what the situation is with Marku having a homecoming fight, I can’t imagine it’s anything more than a tune up. I don’t think his fight in Tirana will be televised by Sky or promoted by Boxxer.

As for Kongo-Marku, I think there’s a good chance it headlines a London card later in the year. October/November time I’d imagine. It’s a fight that Team Kongo are currently looking to make.

Nice, I look forward to that. Doesn't have any serious implications for the division but it's an interesting fight nonetheless. How realistic do you think it is to get a world title shot for Riakporhe next? King promotes Makabu doesn't he, is he really going to let him come to the UK and fight on Sky? Goulamirian still has the Egorov thing to sort out doesn't he?

I fully expect Riakporhe to fight for world title in the next 6-9 months. Goulamirian would take it in a heartbeat but he still has the Egorov mandatory hanging over him. Hopefully the WBA give a resolution on that. Both Makabu and Breidis have travelled over to the UK before so they’re both possible and then I do believe Okolie vs Riakporhe is likely for 2023. Okolie has all but confirmed he’s leaving Matchroom so I assume he’s going back to Sky and signing with Boxxer. Shalom has held talks with Crystal Palace over using Selhurst Park to stage a stadium fight for Riakporhe next year, so I believe the plan must be Okolie vs Riakporhe for Summer 2023. Could potentially be a situation where both hold world titles going into that fight too.

That sounds intriguing. Yeah I can imagine Goulamirian in particular would be begging for the opportunity/the payday, what with his inactivity and the Egorov situation as you say.

Yeah his promoter has been constantly name dropping Okolie, Riakporhe etc.

Providing he wins on Saturday, Joe Joyce will be back on Sep 24th. They’re still trying to make the Parker fight but it’s all but dead IMO. Be interesting to see who plan B is.

Would you expect an opponent of the level of Kuzmin, or better (maybe a Helenius or a Bakole)?

The first name I thought of was Otto Wallin. He’s got some name value over here because of the Fury fight and he’s ranked top 10 with the WBO so they could bill it as a final eliminator or something like that. M

I’d really like the Bakole fight, I’d favour Joyce but I think it would be a real war for as long as it lasted.

Good point on Wallin. Definitely has the name value and a good WBO ranking. Kabayel at 11 in the WBO may be an option as well (although I think I read something about him and Kossobutskiy). Wallin isn't a horrendous fight. Ideally, they'd bring Frank Sanchez (3 in the WBO) over but that certainly won't happen unless ordered.
