If canelo is the competitor he claims to be, he should want to face Benavidez who never lost the wbc title that canelo walks around with and used to claim undisputed status. None of the other guys who became undisputed did so by getting a title that was never lost by the actual champion who is still a top fighter in that same division. That is contrary to the definition of undisputed. Everyone else who became undisputed did so by either by beating a champion or fighting for a title that a former champ vacated to leave the division. Not an additional throw in title that was stripped from the real champion and added to a fight that was already signed and scheduled to happen 1 week later.

I once was a fan of his until I found out that he was not a fan friendly fighter. He boasts that he fights only for himself and not for the fans. He always picks and chooses who he is going to fight next. Real champions don't do that.
They are throwbacks. They allow the boxing public to decide who his next opponent should be. Which is why it's called prizefighting. The fans pays the fighters for the fights they want to see.
The truth is Canelo has been avoiding Benavidez for years and his fans know about it too but they simply choose to protect him rather than checking him on it.

Sounds like his manager is using some reverse psychology. Canelo can duck Benavidez this year but I don't see any path past that next year unless he literally retires.Boricua181 likes this.

Could be,only way canelo avoids benavidez is retirement or dropping all the belts at 68 to fully start campaigning at 75 which would be very bold move from the ginger

Canelo was a mandatory at 154 for a belt and chose not to the champion, he then proceeded to drop a title at 160 because of whatever reason after he and his promoter at the time said everyone at 160 is going to get it, lastly he becomes undisputed at 168 by not beating the WBC champ but by an email throwing a belt in the mix for shiggles. But if you say this you're jealous and a hater. You didn't call him gay or a thug or anything personal just facts. I'm happy he's in a tough spot and if Bivol goes to 168 and does it again he might have to retire for a year fight a YouTube guy then fight the PBC crew.

I think people who are bashing his promoter for saying this need to read between the lines. He threw shots when you think about it. He's basically saying that if the fight isn't happening it's because Canelo doesn't want to make it. The onus is literally on Canelo. Will he accept the challenge and give Benavidez the shot he's earned?

I'm glad people are finally starting to see Canelo for who he truly is. Canelo is a great fighter....willl never take that from him. But the past few years he has been ducking certain fights and it's pretty obvious. He wasn't expecting that kind of smoke from Bivol...otherwise he wouldn't have taken that fight. He won't fight Bvol again. Trust me Canelo don't want that smoke no more. The next time it WILL be worse.
