Meng Fanlong performed Friday night like a hungry contender intent on proving himself against an established ex-champion. Judges James O'Connor (115-112), Michael Ross (114-113) and Brian Garry (116-111) all scored the fight for Pascal, who showed a lot of heart in overcoming a shaky start to record a questionable knockdown late in the ninth round and bombarded Fanlong with power punches late in the 12th round.
