I actually have SceneBoxer with 100 points and Jas with 140 points after double-checking. The rest looks OK, therefore.... (drum roll)....

This is what I alluded to with Bivol in the third post of the thread. What he does looks relatively simple, ain't particularly flashy, ain't gonna produce many 'wow' moments but what he does he does very, very well.

Despite some of the more bizarre criticisms around here Bivol is 100% legit and in his prime and for me represents the first time since the Golovkin fights that I could genuinely see Canelo losing, at least in the public eye if not on the judges cards. Criticisms of Bivol that he's a bit basic and one dimensional completely overlook his rock solid fundamentals, superb mobility and balance, great range control and pinpoint accuracy.
Forgot to mention his timing though... and the discipline and patience. Dude's got a great poker face as well.

I have to watch it again. My first impression was of a bit of arrogance on Canelo's part, as if he was convinced that the fight would unfold exactly as the one with Kovalev ("no worry if I get hit, I'll knock you out later"). When he realized that Bivol was not going anywhere, he probably was overwhelmed on a mental level - which of course affects your body as well.

Or perhaps, PEDs didn't work as they should have this time...

Anyways, massive cong**** to you and of course all the others who had the confidence to go with the Bivol pick despite knowing what we know about the judging in Vegas... and damn, to think 1 more disputable round and they woulda found a way to call it a draw.
the thing is - because Bivol won nobody will question / investigate those scorecards but they are highly su****ious. Since when do all 3 judges score all of the first 4 rounds for a fighter when he has categorically lost, at the very least, one round and possibly all four rounds - that's to say you'd be very generous to give Canelo three of those first four rounds. But all 4 rounds? On all three cards? Then every round was scored exactly the same on all 3 cards. Guess it just makes this competition that much more nuanced.

You are, of course, absolutely correct on both of em. Blame my early morning brain fog.... literally realised I'd fallen back to sleep rolled outta bed and ran downstairs to the PC just in time to catch the final 2 and a half rounds, sat in my boxers and T with the morning sun just peeping over the hill... .

If the Vegas judges could have found a way to give the golden goose the final round, then I would have had my draw.

Not sure why you thought I was Aussie, but hey, we're all related, brother.

Thanks. I know, what a joke, for the judges to have Alvarez only losing by 2 points! But at least they gave the right guy the win. That's a major breakthrough!

What I noticed that likely had a major effect on Canelo, is that Bivol rarely took a shot without coming back with one of his own. Some were even combos. Canelo is used to his opponents either resetting or even going into defensive mode after he catches them with a good shot. He hardly phased Bivol, though. That messed with Alvarez's confidence.
