You'll see that - it will be a barnburner

Seriously though - I threw the fight in there as an oddity of sorts, but I doubt that anyone with a healthy mind would have even remotely considered its inclusion.

Just want to get in my ounce of opinion - mostly because I saw mention of having Kovalev vs Pulev's little brother at cruiserweight. I'm strongly against including this fight as it meets none of the criteria mentioned in the fight selection criteria except maybe if enough posters want it - which would be a head-scratcher for me. I had no idea that big brother HW Pulev even had a younger pro boxer brother at CW until this fight came on to the horizon. At this stage it is just a lottery of a fight due to new weight, inactivity, age etc. At least both Khan and Brook were former titlists and there was genuine public interest as evidenced by the show on the night.

But apart from those disqualifying reasons in my opinion - there's at least 4 better fights to choose.

1/ Jermell and Castano - no brainer.
2/ Ennis vs Clayton - No 4 WW (Ring) vs a regarded prospect. Although prob one-sided this is about a rising star who could be a future P4P No.1 a few years down the line.
3/ Gilberto Ramirez vs Dominic Boesel - No 5 LHW in a competitive fight with WBC no.5 ranked LHW
4/ Tony Yoka vs Martin Bakole - perpetual 'under-the-radar HW contender in Yoka - WBC no.10 vs no 14 WBC ranked ( Wallin is at 11, Helenius at 13 and Dubois at 15 for context) - so actually on paper the 2nd most competitive fight of the four I've mentioned.

Any 3 from those 4 or even all 4 - but please no Kovalev VS somebody-not-very-good's unknown brother

I've already pretty much decided on 1, 2 and 4. Whilst Zurdo's turned in some pretty decent performances recently against long past it contenders in Yunieski and Sullivan Boessel is not the kinda dude that'll make this a meaningful fight as evidenced by needing two shots to just about sc**** by euro level gatekeeper Krasnniqi. The other option was Zepeda vs Alverado but with Rene coming off 3 successive losses it doesn't have the shine of the WW and HW bouts. Apologies to Tatabanya who suggested it but Kovalev vs Tervel was never seriously in the running.

In each of the 3 fights chosen the outcome is significant within the divison for whichever fighter wins, whether it's for unified or for climbing the ladder to a not too distant title shot, whereas Boessel is more a stay busy for Zurdo, neither Kovalev or Pulev are ever gonna do anything at Cruiser (they're both 39 years old ffs and Tervel was never much to write home about anyway) and tough though he may be and a stiff challenge for a rising KO artist like Zepeda a win here ain't gonna reverse the downslide for Rene.

Nah 3 excellent fights between a pair of reigning champions and two pairs of highly rated prospects is tasty as hell far as I'm concerned, looking forward to all 3 of those bouts and even though I believe Boots will smoke Custio that ain't because Clayton ain't a decent fighter it's just because Ennis is that good.

I just realized that Inoue vs Donaire II is on TUESDAY (June 7)... We'll have to include it in the preceding weekend, methinks.

Yeah, that's the way to play it I reckon.... appreciate if you or someone else gives me a nudge if I forget to include it. Now let's see that'll be tagged on to Sat 4th June which is....

Yeah, and there's not even the stress of hurrying up for the following weekend, given that Trevor Bryan vs Daniel Dubois appears to be the only fight that might be considered for the Pick Em...
