    Jeff Lacy's Power

Am i missing something?? Why's there so much hype about Lacy power? it looks pretty average, especially considering the opponents he's faced.

He just looks like a slow bodybuilder who's decided to try boxing!! Lacy IMO has a lot talent but needs to streamline his body, work on speed and throw more combo's .

    Anyone disagree/think the same?

I agree, he is way too big. It seem as if he muscles are too big to throw combinations, so he has to load up on almost all his shots, leaving himself wide open. He has a good left hook and uppercut, but that big looping right leaves something to be desired. With all that said, I think that he will continue winning just as long as he doesn't move up in weight.

I agree. But I actually think he is going in the right direction. In the last fight I saw of his, he was way more cut and I think he was bigger. Don't get me wrong he is still really big and needs to get some speed and defense. But that fight was entertaining because he is strong and a pressure fighter but doesn't have the best defense.

Very hard to Overhype someone's power, when they stop Vanderpool late in the fight. B-Hop could not do it, and shows Lacy's great equalizer.

It's become less and less impressive to me as he continues on in his career. I'd still say it's better than most, but he doesn't appear to have 1 punch power anymore. Maybe it has something to do with his raw skills or training. He's still stronger than most at 168 and under however and could take out any guy around his weight class.

I have said in the past that Lacy's power is a bit overrated. He does have very good power but not that one punch power it appeared to be early in his career.

I've never felt Hopkins to be a big power-puncher anyway, though, so that probably isn't a good qualification. He's got power, but nothing spectacular.

I dont think you can really compare Hopkins and Lacy's wins against Vanderpool. Vanderpool was a big supermiddle going down to face Hopkins at middle, and he was in his prime.

I think Lacy has enough power to KO(more likely TKO) most fighters but i keep hearing how hard he hits . from the recent fight i've seen its the volume of shots over a period of time that finishes people.

I listened to the commentry for his last fight against Rubin Williams and they were speaking as if it were a miracle Williams wasnt going down.

How many combos did Lacy land on that guy before the ref came in & stopped it? Quite a few. Lacy handspeed is underrated. Lacy's opponents as of lately are veteran's that are comming to fight. He hasn't been running through guys like he used to because guys are getting up for him. His last 3 opponents have been pretty tough. Can't say the same for Jermaine Taylor.

i was going to point that out but my twin elveiel did it before .

his power is overratted , but i think is potential power is not.

let me explain : he does have heavy punches , but he doesnt have freakish one punch ko power , as most pointed out . he over commits to his punches and his very strong , so he kind of bully the guys around , but they arent really dazed .

he has real pop but his punching technique is average at best . he tends to slap his hooks and needs more accuracy .

if he had cottoo's punching discipline and technique , he would be the hardest hitter in boxing pound 4 pound.

but right now he is not , and i think his chin is suspect , sheika AND williams rocked him
