Team Haney asking for $5 million to fight Lomachenko was a clear move to price themselves out. They know damn well there’s no $5 million dollar purse for anyone at Lightweight. Nobody there can sell enough PPV’s to ask for that kind of money. Not even Ryan Garcia or Gervonta Davis, who are the most mainstream fighters there.

I guess that’s better than saying no? Just demand a far-fetched purse that you know you can’t get. That way no one can say you ducked.

I am going to call out Canelo right now and ask for a $25 million dollar guarantee. Once they reject me, I will build my name up as the guy who Canelo ducked. The most feared fighter in the galaxy. I am coming for Tyson Fury next, for a $30mill guarantee, or no fight.

Fight your mandatories! I guarantee Team Haney didn't have a crazy purse request then.
I'm pretty sure the statement about demanding 5mil is BS. Loma has not been looking to fight Haney at all. It's been the other way around. And if Haney is the one trying to make the fight, then you don't demand. You offer. And they didn't offer as Arum stated that, that would be a great fight to make, just as soon as Haney left Matchroom. So that tells you Arum had no interest in making a Haney fight for Loma. But then we already new that when they requested the franchise to circumvent Haney.

As for Lomachenko not getting the rematch clause, let’s be real here, this is boxing…no need for rematch clauses. If your goal is to be great and fight the best, beat champions, former champions, be a future HOFer, be known by fans and media as one of the greatest, etc….then you give a rematch to a tough fighter without a rematch clause.

Boxing is a sport where you are supposed to have a lot of fighting pride. It’s a sport where, if the fight was close and competitive, you do it again.

Lomachenko had no clue that Lopez’s balls would shrink that much. He gave a fight to Lopez without requiring a rematch clause. Lopez should have returned that opportunity without being contractually obligated to do so. That’s what great fighters do. The former champion needed surgery for his shoulder. If it was BS, Lopez should have shown it. And anyway what’s wrong with having wins over Lomachenko 2x?

But eventually if you do not have that spirit of a true, prideful boxer, it will show. You will get exposed. Lopez lost his titles and dropped in stock literally in the very next fight. I am happy the titles are not in the hands of a diva like Lopez. Kambosos will represent those titles like a true champion, win or lose.

That unrealistic purse request is an indication of how difficult it’ll be to entice top lightweights to fight Lomachenko, who will turn 34 in February, now that he has lost all his leverage."

Why is $5 Million so unrealistic? Anyway, should've fought Haney for undisputed instead of Lopez! Should've have a rematch clause! "shoulda', woulda' coulda'!" Hindsight is 20/20!
This is 5 mil statement is nonsense. Haney was chasing the fight. You dont denand when its you who wants it. You have to make the offer. And they made no offers as interest was rebuffed by Arum. Arum made it obvious he doesn't want Haney for Loma. His ' that's a great fight. We can make that when Haney leaves Matchroom' comment kinda gave it away. But we already knew this when they requested franchise to avoid Haney already.

If they stood their ground, eventually Loma may have gave in to the demand in order to get the last belt. Sometimes you have to compromise. But it was team Lopez that gave in, and now it's Loma that's rueing that decision.
Lomachenko was the A-side, he could have fought anyone else. Lopez was the one begging for the fight, so yeah, he was not in a position to ask for anything.

Lomachenko did not refuse a rematch clause, he asked for one, Lopez Jr and Sr mocked him into removing it. Lomachenko abided. That’s his fault of course, but he did not “refuse” one. That wording sounds like he was offered a rematch clause but said no. That was not the case. He basically trolled into not demanding a rematch clause. Plain and simple, he was trolled.

Loma loses to Lopez. Lopez loses to Kambosos. Can George break the trend of overlooking an opponent?

Ok, my mistake, Id forgotten that Lopez had the ibf title and that Loma was trying for some sort of undisputed, although he didn't seem to want to fight Haney. Thanks.

These lightweights are constantly playing around, making ridiculous demands. Look at Lopez asking for $10 million to fight Haney. They keep saying they will fight anyone, while asking for figures they know are impossible.

Fight your mandatories but you’ll btch and whine when it’s a Szeremeta or Yildirim. Lopez was an infinitely better fight than Haney, It’s pretty obvious the people that complain about that decision would not be happy no matter who Lomachenko picked. Hate on.
