Real time.
^My notes, of this championship round ( Round 10 ) in slow-motion. Both men displayed high-level of skills, but Usyk is elite.
My favorite part : Oleksandr Usyk's utilization of angles in form of lead-foot dominance and its effectiveness against his fixed target was masterful.
Notice how Olek acquired a deep angle off as he pivots to his right ; this strategy limits the range and power from Joshua's right-hand, namely the cross. Oleksandr, recognizing his advantage takes a calculated gamble by slightly stepping back into the line, quickly planting his left back-foot for power behind his left and launches a wide looping shot which lands on A.J's jaw firmly.

Brilliant night & a real master class. I suggested to you Usyk had been sandbagging, unmotivated for spoon & Del boy.
I suggested you his punch output was down at heavyweight, i told you to watch him up his game! Extatic
Where the showerboys at!? I've been telling you since 18, Aj has been milking the belts for year's only fighting shot 38-41 year olds in oldmandatories & It's no coincidence the last 2 opponents of Ajs own generation both beat him.
It's criminal the robot hypejob gets to hold up the division still with a rematch im the A-side money's all mine contract after loosing a mando. Though I'm happy we get to watch the big robot get made to look like the big primo carnara he is yet again.
Almost an easy night's work for usyk.

Everyone here is trying to make Usyk the god of boxing.
While I think Usyk is a great boxer skill-wise, but I think Joshua lost because of his own mistake rather than Usyk's brilliance. What I mean is that Joshua underperformed and Usyk took advantage of that, rather than Joshua did all he could but still couldn't beat Usyk. Joshua's biggest mistake, in my opinion, was to try to match Usyk...he bent down to almost the same level, he tried to outbox Usyk, did not use his jab effectively to keep the distance, was stationed in the centre while Usyk kept moving around, and most importantly played to the pace of Usyk.
If anything comes to mind, Joshua should have tried to bully Usyk and also keep his distance. A good fight to study for Joshua would be how Buster Douglas fought Mike Tyson. Joshua should have fought as tall as possible with a good jab to keep Usyk at bay. He should be the one moving and circling Usyk. Let Usyk come in and catch him with an uppercut or move backwards and hit him from the side. During the clinches, he should have shown him what HW is all about by bullying him with size and weight.
For this reason, I think Fury will have a much better time against Usyk. Wilder, I am unsure...he gets outboxed but he's quite athletic and probably has better stamina than AJ and if he does connect for those 2 secs, Usyk will feel it. If Wilder does not keep the distance, however, he gets beat up worse than Joshua.TinAgeOfBoxing likes this.

Massive credit to Usyk, world class performance. I got it wrong, thought AJ would be far more assertive from the opening and look to take advantage of another potential slow start from Usyk throwing several fast, straight rights but it never happened.
Usyk masterclass, and while there's no shame in being outpointed by Usyk it still represents a humbling experience on the biggest of stages. He was too happy to fight on Usyk's terms at Usyk's preferred range and tempo, was heavily being controlled by the Ukrainian and that will be difficult to reverse any time soon in the gym.
Talk of Wilder KOing Usyk is off the mark, he'd know when that right hands about to go off before Wilder and he'll have him tide up in knots at a range where Wilder would struggle. Only threat would be Fury who can maximise the length of his levers with his footwork, but maybe his adopted Kronk style suits Usyk too? Not sure on that one, but it's the only fight right now that would clearly establish a number 1 in the division.Last edited by Ant1979; 09-26-2021, 01:34 AM.MrShakeAndBake lock65 like this.
