    Is it me?

When u take a look at the fighters of today and the old school the ones today look like *******. I heard they used to go at for 200 rounds and ****! In the Hagler,Frazier, even Chaves era,the superstars went at it. Now u see fighters like Oscar just trying to look pretty. Is it just me or what?

There may only be the two of us then...! There's however a handful of those throwback types like Gatti, Leija, Pac, Brodie, Chi (did you see Chi-Brodie?), Morales, Barrera...who always come to fight. Too bad that Ward had to thin further the ranks with his departure and Johnny Tapia's Vida Loca of a career appears to be at an end. Paulie Ayala seems to still have the old-school heart but, sadly, also seems to have a body that's quickly getting old. Of those in the past, my bet is on Duran, who, with a glint in his eyes appeared ready to eat his opponent every time he climbed the ring as a lightweight.

you have got to be kidding me.. sports nutrition is much better now then in the past put don't you think if old school fighters where fighting today they would have the same equipment as the athletes today? also, fighters back then where more active and as a result better conditioned..
they simply just don't make them like they used to.

with the limited resources they had then.. I still give the fighters of old the upper hand.

yeah man i agree back then they were straight pro's trying to get better as compared to nowadays when they would rather film a commercial or have some fancy shoe on there foot..old school throwback like hopkins, toney, holyfield, gatti, mosley are like the last of a dying breed boxing today needs some of the that old flavor

One of the reason's we can compare todays, with past years fighters. Weight classes. For all the PWill BS at welter, you can look back, and say Mark Breland.

One of the reason's why I love this sport so much. I talk to somebody on the street, and it's like, "Mosley should fight B-Hop!". But you meet somebody with the same love for it, and you can talk for hours about it.
Thank the flying spaghetti monster I found this wonderful place.
