The fight didn't happen, which means nobody had the budget, not just DAZN, and Garcia priced himself out.

Don't know about the US but in Europe they seem to be killing it. If that BT Sport buy goes through (Queensbury and Matchroom on the same side), the BBC high lights show and Talk Sport deals come off, look good.

“[Eddie Hearn] said DAZN didn’t have the budget for that type of fight [with Prograis].
          "

Probably why DAZN hiked their subscription price from £1.99 to £7.99.

They probably had it, but Mikey thinks he's worth 10 million a fight....

              *US budget

But one of the biggest mistakes Hearn made was giving Mikey 7M to fight Vargas. That was just super unnecessary and Mikey was not going to get nearly that amount from any other promoter/network. If you want him to fight Prograis, he's not going to do it for just 2M after making the money he made vs Spence/Vargas. One of DAZN's execs already came out and admitted that they are going to take it easy in the US since there is too much competition and focus on the global scene. Right now they seem to be going hard in the UK and in Europe in general...Mikey probably thinks by early next year that DAZN will have the budget to offer him what he is looking for....But he's going to be in for a rude awakening. He has to start demanding less money or else he's not going to get the fights he wants. A fight vs Prograis is a really good fight for the fans but not a big fight at all to the general public.

                Inactive Garcia isn’t worth it.

I like all the comments so far. Dayzin clearly lost its way very early with its budget for non events but all boxing in the USA has had its budget cut. We can’t single out dayzin on this one. ESPN has pulled the reigns back on arum, FOX on pbc, dayzin on matchroom etc. The pandemic really hurt sports and boxing as a niche sport in the USA has really been seen as expendable. Why should dayzin throw greenbacks down the money pit on fights that don’t result in subscriptions? Mikey Garcia alone doesn’t move the needle. Never understood why Hearn put so much into him.

If it was a Pac fight the layoff wouldn't had been an issue
