If his eye needed emergency surgery then it’s crazy to think what would have happened if that fight had gone on if they didn’t catch it. Manny certainly would have landed & probably would have stopped him & ended his career, & Spence would have been permanently blind in his eye.

that shhht is scary. This sport is scary. Exactly why I’ll never disrespect any fighter the way some of your are so comfortable doing. These guys put everything on the line, of course they get paid but you gotta wonder if it’s worth it when things like this happen

another lie from spence camp. They want to save spence from humility then they need to show some proof that spence was injured....

1000% true. They don't even believed pacquiao injury even all the proof and evidenced are shown to them and now they want people to believed that spence injury was true even there's no single evidenced to show that spence is injured.

Agreed. While it sucks the fight won't go ahead, it's more important to protect the fighters from serious career-ending injuries. Spence is one of the elite fighters and is still in his prime, so it would be a great loss to boxing if he loses his eyesight and his career ends as a result of going ahead with the fight. It's not worth the danger. I don't think Pac would be happy about it either. Pac wouldn't want to end up blinding a young fighter for life.

retina issues especially in fighters is no joke, if true about spence experiencing these problems its best that it was caught now and not too late..

I believe I smell something and it appears to be p*s*y.

Leonard had surgery to repair the retina on May 9, 1982.

On November 9, 1982, Leonard invited and other dignitaries to a charity event in to hear him announce whether he would continue his career. Standing in a boxing ring with , the master of ceremonies, Leonard announced his retirement, saying a bout with Hagler would unfortunately never happen. Leonard maintained his eye was fully healed, but that he just didn't want to box anymore.

Missing the limelight and the competition, Leonard announced in December 1983 that he was returning to the ring. Leonard boasted that he would have a couple of ten-round bouts and then take on , , Durán, Hearns and finally Hagler. This decision was met with a torrent of criticism from fans and the media, who felt Leonard was taking unnecessary risks with his surgically repaired eye.

A bout with Philadelphia's Kevin Howard, who was 20–4–1, was scheduled for February 25, 1984. The fight was postponed when Leonard had minor surgery on his right eye to fix a loose retina. This latest eye problem further fueled the flames of those who opposed Leonard's comeback.

Before the fight with Howard, Dave Jacobs rejoined Leonard's team in a limited role. Jacobs had quit in 1980, disagreeing with Leonard's decision to have an immediate rematch with Durán.

Leonard and Howard fought on May 11, 1984, in . Howard knocked Leonard flat on his back in the fourth round. It was the first knockdown of Leonard's professional career. Leonard came back to stop Howard in the ninth round, but the stoppage was disputed, with some feeling that the referee stopped the fight prematurely. Leonard was ahead on all three scorecards at the time of the stoppage. At the post-fight press conference, Leonard surprised everyone by announcing his retirement again, saying he just didn't have it anymore.

After going back to look up history, I think I will agree with you.
SRL did fight after his surgery but he wasn’t the same fighter and to his credit he did beat Hagler and Lalonde.

I stand corrected. Errol Spence will most likely retire at WW (2 to 3 fights tops) and he’d be ****** to move up to fight the bigger guys at 154.

Infact I think Crawford is now going to go after him.

Spence pulled out of the biggest fight of his career. That is proof enough. Can you imagine if he stayed and then lost and then start blaming his eye?
That’s what PAC did. He could have rescheduled the fight and have surgery NOT wait until he got beat to claim injury.
That fight could have been rescheduled

Spence pulled out of the biggest fight of his career once he found out he was injured.,
When Manny found out he was “injured”, guess what he did? He fought and lost and then blamed his shoulder.
Manny is a bigger star than Spence, he could have rescheduled the fight. Sour g****s
