The only two groups of fans who want to believe that Ruiz is better than what he is are the Mexican American fans who want to support him and Aj fans who don’t want the embarrassing loss to Ruiz to look as bad. But the truth is that if a highly motivated and well trained Ruiz had to go life and death with areola, he’s not getting very far and wouldn’t beat Wilder.

Sanchez's comments make a lot of sense.

No arguing that if your competitors are committed to training and you are not, you are handing them an advantage. And as Sanchez says, modern athletes train like bastards at the top level.

No arguing that if Arreola could hit him, then Wilder will also likely hit him and the damage will be greater. I'd also agree with Sanchez's assessment of how he won the belts: Joshua was off and Ruiz had the best night he could ever have. Rather than expecting such a circumstance to repeat, he needs to improve himself.

Andy's strengths are exactly as Sanchez says -- fast hands, great skills. He needs to improve a few other areas to take advantage of those strengths.

...and I'll believe wilder still has one punch k.o power when I see it, but if he ever decided to stand and trade with Ruiz he'd come off second best.
        You can't be serious?

I think that Ruiz's problem is he isn't a particularly disciplined person in general. If he was he would always be in good shape and would be in the gym training between fights. It takes discipline and dedication to be truly great at anything in life including boxing. Think about great fighters like Floyd Mayweather and Rocky Marciano and then think about Mike Tyson who was a great heavyweight until he lost his focus on and dedication to being the best he could be. I believe Ruiz does not have the iron will to be the best he can be.

If Andy stays disciplined and continues to learn his craft under Reynoso then he will improve.

It just takes time. Things didn't start to click for Oscar Valdez until the Berchelt fight.

Consistent hard work with Team Canelo, desire, and patience. That will help Andy maximize his career.

Andy Ruiz vs. Luis "King Kong" Ortiz! Make it happen ASAP! Very nice co-main for Spence v. Pacquiao! Fox, MAN UP!

A performance like Ruiz just had can sometimes come when the fighter is trying to implement new things he learned in camp

Also - it has to be said....Arreola was not going to F'up that fight. If he went there in and got blasted he would not have been able to show his face in LA like he used - nobody would ever call him The Nightmare again - there was too much in the backstory for him to not show up a give a career type performance. Andy achieved what he might have "if only..."

I would favor Wilder but he is the one coming back from a bad beatdown not Ruiz

Able is a senile, bitter old man with an inflated ego. He walked away from GGG because he was too proud to admit the training didn't need more personnel. It was Manny Robles who was in the corner for both Joshua fights and Ruiz went 19 rounds without getting knocked out. Those are the two best fights Ruiz has had and Sanchez and Reynoso have yet to come close to topping that. Manny Robles is the real star and he wanted Ruiz to get back to the gym so the Ruiz family had to blame him and fire him because Andy wouldn't listen. The Robles style allowed him to beat down Joshua and give Parker all he could handle. Ruiz did change things up against Arreola and looked better later in the fight. Arreola wasn't going to get knocked out in CA and trained for the fight of his life in his backyard. He is without a doubt one of the toughest heavyweights.

Who other than Dominic bumzeale has Wilder ever Iced with one right hand.

Most of his Ko's come from accumulation, even a glass jawed bum like Arthur Szpillka ate about 9 or 10 Wilder right hands before the one that put him down, and Ruiz is a bit more durable than him lol.
