Canelo v GGG III in negotiations

Saul waited G out. Theres a reason he didnt want the trilogy right away, especially after how close both fights were. This 3rd fight is more for Saul fanboys than anything. Every other fan of boxing is "whatever" at this point.

Do a lot of Mexicans/Mexican Americans see this as well? There is no deny Canelos talent but at the same time it's, at least to me, obvious that Canelo has never wanted anything to do with GGG until the was forced by the boxing community to stop ducking him and he only took the fight because GGG looked like he lost a step against Jacobs.

It was a mega fight and Canelo has not drawn anywhere close the kind of numbers since.

And then the PED use which I don't buy his excuse at all. Everyone knows that Mexican meat has the possibility to be contaminated with Clenbuterol but he still chose to eat it? An elite high level boxer who has a team around him? It's FAR more likely after the disappointing showing where everyone saw him lose he decided to use. Or even so, maybe he's been using Clenbuterol for years to cut on a cycle which is why he's been able to make 155-160lbs because literally as soon as he was busted he struggled to make weight and since has said he'll never come back to 160..

I agree. This one is just for the Canelo fan boys getting their best opportunity to put their worst nightmare to sleep. If Canelo and his fans truly wanted this fight they would of had it immediately after the 2nd fight. But in boxing despite people claiming to be the best or fight the best it's all politics. GGG is pushing 40 years old. But what can I say? They've been waiting forever for GGG to be vulnerable. Yet Canelo is a "killer" right?

Golovkin would be strong as **** if he didn't cut whatever weight to get to 160.

The numbers don't really bear that out. Golovkin's day of the fight weight at 160 was often less than Canelo's day of the fight weight at 154. Those numbers are far from exact but they do give some indication. Makes me think though that 160 was about right for Golovkin at that time and also Canelo, at that time, both weighing in in the low 170's

It's not the weight so much as performance. I'm very much aware of their fight night weights but I have noticed not only how he looks at the weigh ins (although he did look better against Kamil) and also what he seems to be missing during the fights. I've mentioned it several times but I thought he had a snap in his punches at 164 that he hasn't had in awhile at 160 and I contribute that to having to cut those last few pounds. He's not in his early 30's anymore and I just think a move up would help him out more than he realizes.

Sound either self-hating or white-hating. Only those Aztec looking Mexicans can be great. Some boxing fans only tend to root for who they look like most, physically. A very race-motivated sport. Canelo does not look like the typical Native-American looking Mexican. Looks Irish, Scottish, or something. Doesn’t even look like a “Spaniard” Mexican.

It doesn’t matter what country or race you are from, it is hard to hate a resume like that. I know Canelo got haters in Mexico but South and Central America got love for him. If Mexicans want to disown him, we will take him.

I think compared to Floyd Mayweather Jr he's picked tougher competition but still plays the long game which hurts his legacy but not his wallet.

It was in his best interest both legacy wise and monetary wise to fight GGG a 3rd time immediately because the 2nd fight was very competitive even though I didn't personally give him the nod, 7-5 GGG.

But he literally declined because GGG wanted the fight outside of Vegas where Canelo has less influence. This makes me think he knows he was lucky to get the W and just ran with it.

And then Canelo literally tore of his DAZN contract because they wanted him to fight GGG again, a fight he literally claimed was easy.

Yet now, Canelo vs GGG could be a thing again? Even though it's ANOTHER 3 years older? People have the same expectations for a 40 year old GGG as they do for a 30 year old Canelo. It's wild!

Boxing really bugs me because it's literally the only sport in the world where you are not required to face the best yet you can claim to be the best.
