Once again, folks, I want to be wrong on this one but this fight ain't happening, not in September and not ever. Neither Plant nor Haymon is willing to step up. Haymon is loath to have his "champions" lose their belt to an outsider and at a minimum would want a multi-fight deal on his platforms, Plant will breathe a sigh of relief if negotiations break down. He will be happy to continue facing second-tier fighters and continue bragging about beating Uzcategui. We shall see how this plays out.

you don’t even know the specifics of what’s being offered. Ever notice that there are constant issues when it comes to negotiations with canelo opponents? Both smith and Saunders turned down offers last year that they felt were unfair and lowball offers before the fights were actually made. Maybe it’s team canelo that’s the problem since they’re the common denominator. I think that canelo demands a certain amount of money based on his name, but his Dazn buy rates don’t justify what he gets paid. So as a result, the first approach is to lowball the opponent to compensate.

Since May 8th, right after the Saunders fight, all the talk from Canelo's camp has been about Plant. Nobody else. Plant knows this, he's had plenty of time to be in the gym from May 9 until now to be preparing for Canelo. If he comes out with the "not enough time to prepare" excuse, then he's a coward.
