There is a lot more behind the scenes of making a fight than what we see in the media. Arum needs to stop courting the Arabs, they keep making promises that they don't deliver. How many times is he going to fall for that? Saudi, Dubai...besides, who wants to see a huge fight being held in one of these venues? Last time I watched a big fight in Saudi there was no energy. The audience just sits there like an oil painting, no cheering, no yelling, no boos, nothing.

It wasn't going to happen in the Middle East even if Wilder was out of the picture entirely. The Saudis keep falling through on alleged deals, at some point Arum and other promoters need to stop taking the bait so easily. Or at least not discuss it with the media until money is in hand the deal is signed.

This is a good point. Say Fury smashes Wilder again and AJ gets a gift decision against Usyk: the undisputed fight is then back on the cards. But the only person who knows for sure whether it will really be going ahead is Fury; AJ will be slogging his guts out in the gym everyday but unsure whether he will even be fighting Fury at the end of it. Such uncertainty is not beneficial psychologically leading up to the fight of his life.

Except that's not what happened here. Even Arum was confident the deal was going to get done.
