I also think that is the very thing that causes good match ups to be denied. Calzaghe fans and Mayweather fans are notorious for doing that. Saying they will destroy such and such opponent in devastating fashion that appears to be a threat and we never get to see the fight happen is the sad reality in this sport.

He's much quicker than Lacy. This is obvious.

He's fought two very credible solid guys and beat them. He can only learn from this, something Lacy never seemed to do when he had his "poison" working for him (left hook).
Cloud had to fight a lot more against guys that rarely go down. That will serve him well.

I will give Chad his full props if he beats Glen Johnson a lot more convincingly in the rematch. But is he going to go from there and just fight lame mismatches? I'm not saying he will, but at the same time I don't want to see that. The Lightheavyweight division is not all that strong outside of Cloud and Dawson, and to me that is why this fight is an attractive match up.

Another thing that people need to take note of is how Cloud is bad mouthing Dawson in the media. This is the same thing that Celestino Caballero is doing with Juan Ma Lopez and Lopez got ripped hard for not responding to his challenge. Are people going to hold Dawson to the same standards? I think Cloud made it clear that Dawson is on his hit list when he accused him of fighting 40 year olds and saying he can only hide for so long from young hungry fighters. Obviously Johnson isn't your ordinary 40 year old, but Tarver sure is.

This fight could happen for sure because a Zsolt Erdei fight never will.
I am all for it if Dawson gets past Johnson.
Dawson-Cloud is two young hungry prime guys. What's not to like?

I would love to see the fight. I still hope that Johnson beats Dawson and we get a Cloud-Johnson fight instead. But with Cloud in the equation things will just get a lot more exciting.

Also when I said that Tarver is ordinary in my post above is what I meant. I know you are somewhat a non-hater of Tarver, but there is another point I need to make regardless of that. Tarver didn't really beat Woods more decisively than Cloud did because he never hurt him. He just won more rounds. Pressure fighters usually are vulnerable to getting off to a slow start as opposed to counter punchers. And as far as a Cloud-Tarver fight goes, Cloud would send his ass into retirement. And I would love to see that fight too, because if guys like Dawson won't fight Cloud he will have to build up his name and resume some way.

Tarver is old now. It seems people forget he beat Glen Johnson (I thought twice). Tarver can be bad, but he can be very good as well. I don't think he truly has the fire he did before and he's got some money now.
At any rate, I'd like to see Cloud step up. Doesn't matter if it's Johnson, or Dawson, or Erdei, or anyone.
Just don't want to wait a year for another good fight to happen.

I'd like this fight. But Chad wins a UD handily imo.

A Cloud-Tarver fight would be an easy sell in Florida.

But the thing is, that would make Cloud a hypocrite for cracking on Dawson for fighting old men.

Not if he knocked him out. Dawson beat Tarver, but he didn't look exciting while doing it either time he fought him. If Cloud could score a stoppage over him, it would make a big statement.

I think this is the best fight to be made at 175 (though one of these guys versus Pascal would be welcomed).

I believe Dawson has the experience, speed, and overall boxing skills on Cloud, but thus far into his boxing career, has yet to put in a full fledged grade A performance in the ring. Even during arguably his best performance against Adamek (IMO), he sort of became complacent and switched off in round nine, putting himself under unnecessary pressure. His first fight against Tarver he looked good, but the same cannot be said the second time around.

Against Johnson he arguably lost the fight and showed he couldn't cope with constant pressure. Were he to do that against Cloud, or even Johnson again,
I'm not sure he'd make the final bell.
