I have lived in the Philippines all my life so I would like to clarify. Yes, this concept has been implemented in the Philippines since the second Pacquiao-Morales fight. Yes all movie houses charge the viewing patrons a fee ranging from 300-600 pesos. However, some venues - not movie houses - are free. The city government concerned usually pays for the broadcast distributor's (Solar Entertainment) pricetag so that those who cannot afford to pay for the convenience and comfort of a movie house can still watch the fight live for free. The venues are usually large auditoriums which can accommodate more people than your typical movie house. AND THIS ONE IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE: DURING A PACQUIAO FIGHT DAY THE STREETS IN THE PHILIPPINES ARE DESERTED. THE FILIPINOS ARE INSIDE MOVIE HOUSES, AUDITORIUMS, RESTAURANTS AND SPORTS BARS WHICH ARE AIRING THE FIGHT LIVE.

I've been watching the Pacquiao fights inside movie house since Pacuqiao - Diaz. You have to buy your ticket one month in advance otherwise it will be too late; the tickets will be sold out.
