Spoken like ur typical ignorant hater! I'll make sure as a gov't health official to get u in front of the line for those death panels. Lol!
Spoken like a lazy punk that hasn't payed thousands to their place of work for years to get health care and thinks everything is wrong with the system even though we have the best doctors in the world.
It is not that there are not quality young fighters out there. It is that big time promotional companies have forgot how to make the fighters household names. The big ones that control all the network slots simply use the top dogs as cash cows and forget about building name recognition of the young fighters for the future. The insane amount of weight classes, ranking organizations and no identified sole organizational office to make sure fighters are not ducking each other is hurting the sport.
Think of this in comparison to the NFL for a second.
Promoters are in essence team owners. They risk all the financial exposure in order to put a show on.
Imagine if the Steelers could go into a season and say, "You know what, we don't want to risk a loss to the Patriots so we are not going to play them this year. Who cares if we have to beat them to win the Super Bowl. We would rather play the Bengals and win the Mega Bowl." My point being if there were four different championships and the teams could pick and choose who they play and what they play for would anyone really watch?
But if the fighters fought at 115, 126, 135, 147, 160, 175, 200 and Heavy with one champion in each division regulated by a league office promoters would have no choice bu to put their best against someone else's best all the time. Fans would in turn get the best and tune in thus boosting ratings and ad dollars.
With high priced PPVs and very selective choosing of fights HBO has boxing in a vice grip. I think promoters should lobby USAnetwork and bring back tuesday night fights forcing the suits at HBO to start showing more fighters and less PPVs.
no, they arent... and i'll tell ya why
HBO has X amount of dollars it brings in yearly from subscribers... Y amount goes to getting big blockbuster hits first, Z amount goes to funding and developing its own programs (Sopranos, Entourage, Bill Maher, Real Sports etc) and then there's obviously overhead and maintenance among other things...
Boxing fits in with its own programs, and just like Weeds, Real Sports and others, boxing has a budget....
this budget gets cut up into WCB and BAD...
lesser known fighters obviously get put on BAD, using less of the budget.... Bigger fighters, like the Tony vs Mosley card, get put on WCB...
NOW, pay attention to this part....
When GBP, Top Rank etc "make" a card, they get all the agreements for who will be making how much etc.... they then "pitch" the card to the networks (HBO, SHO etc), if the pricetag is too high, then it goes on PPV, so that it generates its own revenue and doesnt come out of the budget....
when fighters are willing to fight for 1-3 mill a fight, theres a good chance that the fight will be free*
but when fighters think they are worth alot more than that, there's no way they can afford that kind of fight for free.... if it were the case, they'd only have one big fight a year, because the budget would be exhausted immediately.
This also, is the reason too many undercards suck.... promoters will get max money for the main event and then put **** fights under is, so they can keep the excess funds for themselves, using the sub par fighters as "fillers"
So no, its not HBO.... its diva-esque fighters IMO that are killing the sport...
However, its their lives on the line so they can put whatever price tag they want on them and i cant blame them for that!
The top fighters fight on HBO to get paid...And most of mainstream America doesn't have HBO and even if they do they don't know when or who is fighting so they miss the best the sport has to offer.. HBO needs to stop concentrating on names and just make good fights. That is the biggest problem. Make Cunningham-Adamek 2,Bika-Green etc. Make B.A.D. cards what they were suppose to be Alexander-Bradley,Ortiz-Alvardo,Valero-Soto and if the promoters balk say fine go and try and make money else where. Which they won't be able 2 do.

Lazy Punk? Me? Continuing to show your ignorance, nice job my conservative sheep.
So I guess me working in healthcare since the age of 17 starting as an EMT/CNA all the way to being 1yr away from being a surgeon with a Masters in Public Health all before the age of 28 means I have less credibility and understanding of the issues than you? Not to mention this experience being in the private and public sectors. LMAO!
Showing your true colors! Keep up the good work. U r what this country needs.
GTFOH clown! U aint able to debate me on this issue becuz u have no ***ing clue whats going on. Ur just a pawn used by ppl like my own friends so they can keep their huge bonuses and stock options.
And on a final note to highlight how ignorant you are, that insurance you have been getting for all these years wont be bothered when this reform bill with a public OPTION passes. Hell, u will get to keep more of your hard earned money.
And that best doctors in the world slogan is as deceitful as u claiming like u know whats really going on. We have the best doctors in the world no thanx to what u are paying for your insurance. As a doctor we only get less than 30% of the costs U pay to your beloved insurance company! So at the end of the day, me the doctor will continue to make tons of cash with or without the reform of this wasteful system.

Prove it? All your bs about you being a doctor is laughable and if you worked in the healthcare industry you would know that doctors in socialist states have pay caps which lowers the turn out rates of doctors. It's called the brain drain dumbass why do you think we get so many doctors from foreign nations? It's because the incentive here is higher pay under a capitalist system now once the capitalist part is removed and the government mandates set pay how many doctors do you think will accept lower pay for the equal amount of work? And as far as being a conservative you have me all wrong I'm an independent that likes to hear arguments from both sides but I unlike you don't need a weatherman to tell me it's raining outside.
It's that boxers think they're worth more than they are. Adamek thinks he derserves more than $500,000 to fight Hopkins. Adamek is good and brings 10,000 Polish supporters to fights, but who the hell knows who he is in the general public? Absolutely nobody and $500,000 is more than 99% of Americans make in a year. Berto hasn't fought anybody and doesn't draw flies and thinks he deserves over $1million to fight Mosley. Juanma thinks he already deserves $1million a fight.

That statement is flawed because if Adamek bring 10000 fans to a fight each paying approximately $100 that's 1 mil and that's assuming each seat is $100 which they aren't for example Tito-Mayorga years ago in MSG cheap seats were $75 and ringside was $1500.
