Pacquiao Wants To Fight Cotto For The WBC Diamond Belt

I do recall Bob Arum promised to match Cotto with Pacquiao in return for renewing their contract as promoter, because Cotto was pissed at Arum re-Margarito.

Cotto agreed, sacrificing his ideals, future slavery under Bob Arum just to fight Manny Pacquiao.

So Cotto and Arum actually made this match happen, with Arum enticing Pacquiao to watch Cotto`s fight, virtually hypnotizing him alongside the seats.

To the point that pacquiao was forced to call out Cotto because he was a victim of promotional magic and undue hypnotism by Bob Arum, whereas Roach actually preferred to fight Mosley for Pac.

You are right Cotto was looking for big fights and the resigning of Cotto with Top Ranks was signed as part of the deal to make the fight against Pacquiao.

However Pacquiao was not the only boxer that Cotto had his eyes on. Cotto was willing to wait for Mayweather and sign a fight with PBF in January to face each other in April being Cotto by that time a free agent or with GBP.

Do you remember the famous golf match between Cotto and DLH???

After that meeting with DLH was when Cotto came around and accepted the conditions established at that time by Pacquiao. If you noticed all this happened in a timeframe of only 2 or 3 days.

True Arum influenced Pacman and that's why he practically dragged Pacman to the MSG for Cotto-Clottey, but the fact is that Pacman after the fight gave the green light to make Pacman-Cotto happen. While Cotto was thinking in either Pacquiao or PBF.

I really dont understand your beef with your fellow P RIcan Varcarcal and its country's WBO... I mean noone inside the island complained when Cotto was given a the WBO vacant JR. Welterweight Belt by fighting a bum in Kelson Pinto just as noone complained when given the vacant WBO Welterweight Belt by fighting another bum in Jennings...

But, now, Cotto doesnt want to pay the sanctioning fees for a fight that he may lose and by crying about the 1 ****ing pound??? Cotto has been eating off the Puerto Rican WBO belt for years and has used it as a claim to being champion... But now when he isnt given a free handout, he's bitching and moaning???? True that he didn't want to pay the fees but he has realized that as per the regulations he will have to pay a % of the fee and he already admited that. Not saying that he will pay it because he has the option to vacate. Remember the thread here about Cotto being taxed by the WBO?? and he also admitted that in a Puerto Rican Newspaper. What he is not accepting is that they want to FORCE him to put the title on the line when the agreement of this fight was not for the title. At this point we will have to wait how this develops but as per the regulations as recognized championship fight is for WW is UP TO 147 not limited to 145. But more so for the matter this has all taken placed and the visible intentions of the WBO President to intepret his own rules to his benefit$$$.

It was not Pacquiao, Roach nor there lawyers or advisors who started this belt issue it was Varcarcel that went running to them and began this whole mess when the fighters had already anounce the fight and an agreement.

As you can tell by my post, I don't care much about the belts, it isn't worth much anyway nowadays. I'm all about the good fights, which is suppose to be from day one.

I agree with you 100% and i have also said that in the past, with our without the belt it will be a great fight and I don't think the with the magnitude of these boxers a title will not determine how many people will but tickets or how man people will watch the fight.

On the catchweight issue I also agree that it will be a great tool to watch "Dream Fights" that not necessary will happen under the current limitations however it should be up to the boxers specialy the Champion to determine if he wants to put it on the line under a different weight limit that the belt actually represents. No boxer should be forced by any Organization to risk the title by restricting their own rule just to cash in on what has been well deserved by the boxers.

So in your logic, WBO has Pac at #2 Welterweight so obviously he deserves to fight for a vacant Welterweight belt with a bum, right???

And why would he complain at paying the fees now and then when Cotto well knows that should he lose the belt, the WBO or another sanctioning body would just give him another vacant belt by fighting yet another bum...
